I'll never understand this.

How is it that all three suck on their own? Jimmy's stand up stinks, Opie sucks all around and Ant sucks on his own. When all three come together it's great. Just Jimmy and Ant is better but I'd take all three as opposed to the shit that is being put out now.

I just cancelled TACS and it sucks cause I really wanted him to succeed. Actually I wanted both shows to succeed but it's not meant to be.

Ron & Fez it is.

It turns out the show was more than the sum of its parts. You take out a card and the house crumbles. You shine sunlights disinfecting properties on the situation and all the flaws are brought to the surface. You leave your house for thirty minutes and find a heavily tattooed man in your matrimonial bed.

A fucking tripod

It's like losing one of the members of The Police.

Also, I think Jimmy's stand up is great.

you're also a standup whos promoting some shitty podcast and have reasons to lie.

"What do YOU do for a living, character?"

I have been wanting to catch Jimmy but can't for whatever reason. I hope it is better than the Netflix and youtube shit

It is. He's great live. He's so weird, he's not like any other comic. If Jimmy was a hardcore band from the 90s, he'd be Coalesce.

Opie doing a show by himself wouldn't suck. None of us would listen to it, but it would be a functioning radio thing. With no one to interrupt or lie to, he's just Radio Guy #93845, jabbering between records and fake laughing at moron calls or whatever. He can do that. He's probably fucking great at it.

And Jimmy doesn't suck at standup. How many known guys are better right now? Ten? We just don't like what he does. We know how funny he is, and he doesn't bring that to the stage. At all. And we know the difference between him and the guys who do bring it, because we heard 'em on Jim's own goddamn show—the same place we've heard Jim rightly slam the shit out of comics who are just like himself. So it's infuriating for us, and...it's not for us. Jim Norton: Regular Joe Standup. He's got the job. Clambake casino circuit 4 lyfe.

And Anthony's show is good for what it is. What solo podcasts are better? Only Burr's comes to mind. But we've heard Anthony be a lot better than Burr is, so it's disappointing. Of the boyz, he's the only one trying to do some more work. He'll probably get great at it (again) someday.

HOLD ON

It's not fair to compare Burr's podcast with Anthony's. Anthony's show is what he does and he charges for it. Burr is a free podcast that he does when he finds a free hour. Anthony's show should be miles and miles ahead of what Burr does but it's not.

Well Ant puts out three times the content burr puts out per week. I personally dislike burrs podcast greatly. Ant keeps me entertained a majority of the shows.

we can debate weather Anthony or Burr's show is better but the point is, Anthony's whole life is radio and the podcast seems to be a hobby for Burr. The fact that Anthony doesn't have a show that's a million times better than Burr is kinda an embarrassment for him

1st off Ants whole life is young girls, booze, and gambling. 2nd of all This is a 20 hour max work week for ant. Finally the decision to watch his show is entirely your call and what you can afford to support, but a lot of people love seeing and hearing ant bullshit. The visual element is great. Everyone knows ant is at his absolute best shooting the shit with others. But even solo he's better than the tandem of o&j.

This is the issue. I Like him but he set up his show where the only fans are going to be his biggest fans. People that want to pay, will deal with commercials and thinks his views on race are spot on. Anyone else will most likely not find it worth it. So what does that do? It makes Anthony super lazy. His audience is a bunch of hero-worshipping Bobos who are happy with anything he does.

Now, why it sucks for the rest of us is because we would like to see Anthony be good. we lost a unique comedic voice that has no way of thriving due to his current set up. So yes, I don't subscribe and would never from the reviews I read and the quality of the show that is apparent to anyone that's not a super fan. But it sucks because it's just another guy wasting his talent in exchange for laziness

I get what you're saying though I don't entirely agree. Have you seen any of his better shows? What are your suggestions for improvement?

Like most comics, Jimmy's much funnier and more brutal live than he is on specials. I have a feeling only around 10% of the fanbase ever actually made the effort to see him somewhere other than on a screen. Comics all would like to have that Carlin Dream, where HBO (or whatever) airs a special every other year or so and it's highly anticipated by the network and fans - a huge event. So naturally a lot of the meanness is left out by comics who try to build their status up to that. Look at how mean Otto & George was, and how much he lacked for mainstream success. A "comic's comic" is what it is for that reason.

I see your point here. Controversial is more popular than mean I suppose.

I think there are more than 10 guys better than Norton at stand up if you are talking about how popular they are... If you are talking about your own personal taste that is one thing but: Louis, Burr, Jim Jefferies, Patton Oswalt, Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Chelsea Handler, Amy Schumer, Michael Che, Joe Rogan, Kevin Hart, Lewis Black, Russell Peters, Marc Maron, Jay Leno, Aziz Ansari, Jim Gaffigan, Mike Birbiglia, (and there are more) who are all bigger names who draw a bigger crowd for their stand ups. I was just reading a list where Norton isn't even in the top 20 of the best comedy specials available currently on Netflix. His stand up isn't really that popular outside of people who listen to O&A.

peanut butter, jelly and bread. same principles, this is 3rd grade shit ya dummy

Yeah but all three of those things can be good on their own. Except bread. Opie is bread.

This isn't unique to radio shows....it happens with bands too. Sometimes people balance each other out; they curb each other's excessive tendencies and create harmony.

Like a recipe. If you eat single ingredients it might be kind of shitty...but all together they make a nice sauce...or gravy if you're one of those type of assholes.

i always loved nopie shows the best. opie just sucks

I don't even like comedians when they are on stage. There are some specials I like, but I don't seek out stand-up comedy because its scripted nature is the exact opposite of what Opie & Anthony sounded like, a bunch of guys hanging out and cracking jokes.

In other words, love the comedians when they are in studio, but have no interest in actually seeing their standup. I did love Colin Quinn's long story short because it felt more like a play and I'm a fag.

I wouldn't say Jimmy's stand up stinks, but he would be a lot better if he was more relaxed on stage.

you're wrong.

Eh, never claimed to be right, just my two cents.

alright

It's all Opie's fault.

Not to be a ballwasher, but where is any evidence to suggest that Ant isn't doing well with TACS?

? every episode of TACS is the evidence?

Am I the only person that enjoys TACS?

It has its moments of glory but ultimately feels like something is missing which to me is a co-host.

I consistently laugh out loud hard on average two times per show which is a pretty good batting average

Incorrect.

Have fun fucking yourself, because nobody cares.

Who doesn't have fun fucking themselves?

I'm having fun right now.
