The Wedding Ringer....zero reviews on RottenTomatoes...yet Opie declares it's been getting GREAT reviews....

Does he ever say anything based on actual facts?
A sure sign that a movie is a stinker is when it won't even screen for critics

How long until Kevin Hart starts wearing a fat suit or dressing up like an old black grandmother in his movies?
1 AntsCamera 2015-01-14
That subject was brought up by Godfrey on the race wars podcast with Kurt and Sherrod, It came up on JRE with Nick Dip too, I wonder what the origin of this is, I been hearing it a lot.
3 schmoegreene 2015-01-14
I would assume it comes up alot because of the comparisons to Eddie Murphy, Martin Lawrence, and the Wayans brothers. There is a long tradition of black comedians dressing up as women to get cheap laughs. Chappelle talks about it here with the real Opster: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lbFRYF-bbM

Tyler Perry in Madea and Martin Lawrence in Big Mamas House.

Opie is all-in on the Kevin Hart

How long til "Kevin Hart used to do our show all the time! He's too big for the show now"
Even though they didn't have Kevin Hart on til he started starring in movies
1 chippersonlyle 2015-01-14
And he's hoping he's not TOO BIG now to come on the show in the future.

"You don't know what iRob is? iRob is gonna be huge..."
5 Fightingrooster 2015-01-14
Im guessing the titster said this once?
7 dankfranklin 2015-01-14
Yeah, there was some horrible Rob Schneider show that premiered after the Superbowl a few years ago called ¡Rob! but dummy thought it was "i-rob" and for whatever reason he thought it was going to be huge.
9 Fightingrooster 2015-01-14
OH NO I REMEMBER NOW!!! OH GOD WHY
9 idamnedit 2015-01-14
Are you sure Opie wasn't confusing this with The Wedding Singer? I mean last I knew he was thinking about maybe getting back into weed. Troy did hook him up with a vape pen. Opie could just be all types of fucked up on the chronic bro. I mean that is what the cool children of the 90's, like Opie, are doing right?
9 billisinthefridge 2015-01-14
Our pal Adam Sandler coming out with a new one...an old friend of the show. What ever happened to Adam? He blew up and got too big for us. This always happens with these guys, but then we catch them on their way back down again.

Did I ever tell you about the time we almost discovered GodSmack? Sully and I became best buds when he came to Boston. I actually suggested the name GodSmack for the band. He was actually supposed to come in this one morning and play a demo he had. However, I had to call in sick because I was sealing the deal with these 5 smokin honey's I met at the Cask 'N Flagon. They were playboy playmates. Yeah I was a late bloomer, but man did the Opster put up some serious numbers later. Wilt Chamberlain and I used to have a tally contest. But getting back to Sully and Godsmack. One thing led to another and his fucking manager put him on a different station. Dude it would have been great though... Yo! Sully if your listening.. Love ya miss ya!

The best part of the Wedding Singer was the shitty fiance. Holy fuck that guy was so condescendingly mean and hilarious.
1 ptb4life 2015-01-14
was the "holy fuck" a jab at one of Opie's many crutches?
2 [deleted] 2015-01-14
No, but now I'm worried I share the same prose as Opie.
8 Wsallgood 2015-01-14
I have been emailed 3 different screening notifications for it. That's extremely rare and not in a good way. Normally a test audience will fill up on the first round and that's it. They've had 3... The only other time I receive multiple notifications are for black comedies and Zac Efron movies.
9 867-5309- 2015-01-14
Sir you failed to include "Taylor Lautner as a leading man" in your otherwise astute comment.
3 Wsallgood 2015-01-14
Spot on. How could I forget?
3 pitstained 2015-01-14
He glanced over a 3 star review in the paper written by some 80 year old New York Jew and stamped it with the Opester seal of approval.
2 TheRadicalMan 2015-01-14
Not sure if this is always the case, but it seems recently anyone who comes to promote their movie, it usually sucks.
11 highflyin 2015-01-14
Because the queer fat ass Ro-Ro can't get a decent star to come on the show. If the movie was good, would they need to come on O&J to promote to the very few (in terms of people reached by the interview) of us degenerates that listen?
3 TheRadicalMan 2015-01-14
Couldn't agree more. Wonder if it's obvious to the audience as well.
3 fart_yourself_awake 2015-01-14
They said it when Jeff Bridges came in for BPRD... when they get huge stars promoting their movie it's usually because it's going to be a stinker and the studio wants them out promoting to soften the blow.
1 dingobabie 2015-01-14
BPRD?
1 fart_yourself_awake 2015-01-14
That shit comic book movie he did. Probably got the name wronh, Idgac
2 ONAFan2014 2015-01-14
He's literally ripping off Howard. Howard was pumping up "Big Momma's House 3" in 2011 like it was golden, but no one gave a shit.
2 opieanthonyjim 2015-01-14
Hoo Hoo, I invented promoting movies on-air Robin, hoo-hoo
2 dazwah 2015-01-14
Isn't this just a re-working of Hitch?
2 breadmoccasin 2015-01-14
Remember when they praised Cop Out?
1 aprosbro 2015-01-14
I will gladly sneak into this movie and will probably enjoy it as much as I enjoyed sneaking into Soul Plane.
2 ONAFan2014 2015-01-14
I got a kick out of Soul Plane, to be honest. I guess my expectations are low. Plus, it wasn't too PC.
2 aprosbro 2015-01-14
That's what I'm saying, no expectations and free. It's easy to actually enjoy something in that context.
1 stinkskc 2015-01-14
I hope you go to jail for it - just for trying to see such a shitty looking movie.
3 valley_pete 2015-01-14
sarcasm; it's not for everybody
1 bimpy 2015-01-14
I'm scared to see the Chris Rock film for this very reason.
1 Weirdfellas 2015-01-14
I loved Top 5, it was one of my favorite movies of last year. (And Im not much into comedies) It's worth seeing it just to see Ant, Sam and Jimmy in it.
2 bimpy 2015-01-14
Ah, that's good news, I've been looking forward to watching it. Cheers.
3 Weirdfellas 2015-01-14
There's a DMX cameo that is the hardest I've laughed at a movie in possibly years. The funny part is, I saw this in Sherman Oaks in the middle of the day, it was me & mostly middle-old aged white people, and it KILLED in the entire theater. I couldn't believe how hard old white people were laughing at it. I don't even know if they knew who he was, and it still had everybody dying. I thought that was so cool.

Opie is all in on shilling for favors.
He thinks Kevin might actually get out of bed before 1 pm. (oh those black people) and come in and bail out his sinking fucking show.
1 Nightkrawler49 2015-01-14
I saw a screening of that movie last month and it was fucking horrible. Even the studio knows it's shit because they are dumping it in January. This is just further proof of Opie being an ass kissing liar.
1 CoolerKing37 2015-01-14
It's a January release. That's when Hollywood dumps all of their movies they know are terrible while everyone is busy seeing the movies nominated for awards.
0 [deleted] 2015-01-14
I saw it, it's funny. It will make a good chunk of change.
-3 opieanthonyjim 2015-01-14
What's happening he supposed to say? He's helping a good guest promote his project. "Oh no reviews yet, so the movie may be shit, Okay starts this Friday, not sure how the reviews are"
Who gives a shit, this is exactly what he should be saying.
The movie looks funny enough. I think Josh Gad is hysterical in everything and Kevin Hart is good too. It doesn't look amazing but it looks decent. So Opie's helping promote it, saying good reviews when there aren't.... Let's Lynch him!
Jesus christ. As I say often here, there's plenty of legitimate things to trash Opie for, why trash him for something undeserving of a trashing?
1 Jordanyee121 2015-01-14
Or, you know, just say something can't be disproven with a quick google search. Like o, it'll be great because Kevin is in it or hey I saw it thought it was funny- instead lying about reviews. That's maxwell shit
-3 opieanthonyjim 2015-01-14
No it's not Maxwell shit. He's not saying it to benefit himself or his show. He's just saying it to help Josh Gad, who's been a friend, out. This is a non-issue.
