He's not funny and thats ok. But he's also not interesting. So he feels the need to make up stories and take other peoples stories and try and pass them off as his own.
I remember Florentine was telling a story about pissing in a cup at a concert, It was a good story and everyone laughed. About 3 to 4 weeks later Opie told a story about him going to a concert years ago and needing a piss and doing it in a cup and kicking it over. He could barely keep back his laugh while telling it.
I used to work with a guy who went to Geneseo and was in the same frat at Opie (although several years later). I asked him if any of those hazing things were true (the marshmallow in the ass cheeks specifically) and he said it's not a hazing tradition at all and he'd never heard of it.
