Opie is mimicking Florentine's voice.

Opie's new, gravelly-sounding voice and speech patterns are precisely like florentine. Jesus Christ, opie is in his 50's and he's still blindly copying the "cool kid".

Opie said about 15 things that Florentine has done hours on on the 1/12 show, like "beard bro" to being a Pats fan by default, and Florentine said nothing the entire time; I could hear Jim F. biting his tongue.

You sure he wasn't biting his teeth? Shout out to Jim Norton.

He gets credit for this great line, but I like to borrow it and bandy it about now and again.

ASSimilation complete

Towards the end of OnA, Opie would quote movies like the Godfather in the same way that Ant and Jim would, but when the topic of those movies actually came up, he never got in the conversations like he was as big a fan or had even seen them necessarily. Most people have catchphrases that they use until they get old and then they retire them. Ant and Jimmy just waited until Opie stole them and then retired them.

Opie always accidentally mimicked comics. He really made his bones on a bad Breuer impression.

Florentine is the cool guy in high school. Opie is the wannabe tag along trying to weasel some coolness off him. It never works.

I wish Boobster would mimic a Jim Jones follower and drink the cyanide.

I think it's subconscious. I don't think he realizes that he mimics the people he adores. It's the chameleon effect. He subconsciously changes with his surroundings.

"new"? You just start listening?
