Opie has always underestimated his audience because he himself has such a low level of intelligence. That's why he has always believed his constant narration of what is happening ("breaking the forth wall a little here...") is necessary and illuminating for the listeners rather than just annoying.
Sometimes he'll point out some Radio thing that did need explaining. When they were bashing Darian o'toole on the phone she kept saying "you'll just edit this and make me look bad" both Ant and Jimmy were confused. Then Opie goes "oh shit she thinks we're gonna use this again on the Terrestrial side". Opie then proceeded to call her a dumb cunt, may she rest in peace.
Opie loves to reset. It's what terrestrial morning shows in big markets have to do. Especially now with the PPM ratings. It also breaks up any kind of flow if you have a segment that lasts longer than 5 minutes.
i guess im pulling back the curtain for the new posters...sometimes we like to get inside. thats what you dont get from other radio shows forums, and it drives me fucking crazy.

I was listening to an old show and he made a hacky joke about being stressed while going to the Stress Factory because the name. He was totally serious but a caller called him out on it and he pretended he meant to be hacky. I was cringing so hard because Ant,Jimmy, and Patrice didnt say anything because they knew snuggle tits was being serious.
it is really shitty that Opie is the biggest reason why shit never goes anywhere good on the show. this instance wasn't that bad but all the other times of barreling over guests and show staff when they are being funny or taking a phone call in the middle of a funny bit really ruins the show. fucking year after year of the same shit over and over with opie ruining shit.
You made me think about and realize how bad an Opie and Ron Bennington show would be. Opie would step on everything Ron did. Ron and Fez with Jimmy would be amazing, but Opie's participation kills the dynamic worse than Fez. Fez's weirdness is interesting, but Opie pretending to be cool isn't interesting to anyone, and then he ruins other peoples' bits.
