During the fappening, nobody understood 4chan or anonymous. They sounded like elderly women calling the internet "the information superhighway."

Because it's practically the birthplace of the internet humor. You have no idea the influence it's had on you since around 2005-2006 (this post reads more serious than I intended, so I'm expecting downvotes)

4chan spun off SomethingAwful and has basically the same sense of humor.

Don't go there. Don't try to use it. You may just get stuck using it forever otherwise and that isn't healthy.

4chan has been streamlined the past few years, it's actually very easy to use and imho its laid out much better than reddit.
