Bonnie should be happy she didn't get to talk to Christopher Hitchens. He would have wiped the floor with her.

I was thinking the same thing. That man was intellectually miles above everyone else.

Unlike you.

No he just thinks he is, being a smug douche does not make you smart, just fools dumb people.

You may not agree with his opinions, but you can't deny his intelligence.

Did it bother you he didn't chew gum and spit while he talked? I'd love if you gave some examples non-fiction writers you consider intelligent.

You must love the jesus.

If it ain't the willem dafoe jesus then count me out

Willem dafoe jesus> jesus

Especially since she missed the point of his Vanity Fair article. He said Women Aren't Funny because generally there isn't an expectation for them to be. I don't remember if the movie addressed that.

Probably because she never read the article. Just stole the title for her documentary, showed various nobodys calling Hitchens an asshole, then had a good laugh when they found out he'd died during the course of filming.

Women aren't funny on Netflix or anywhere else for that matter.

ttttsssss

Sadly, i cannot find it "anywhere else for that matter" :( .. and i dont have netflix.

Where the hell did the $10,000 go? They should have hired an editor. Just because Bonnie is the smart one in the relationship doesn't mean she's competent enough to edit a film. What a disaster.

They did hire an editor. I don't think you understand how much film production costs.

No but he will drive frozen fish to a Walmart if you need that.

You could hire a young, talented, up and coming editor for FREE if you wanted, in exchange for a credit. Editors aren't hard to get at all.

You could yes, if you know the right person who is talented and will do it as a favor. But if you are doing it at ''industry rates'' 10,000 is nothing.

Why would any independent, self-financed film pay "industry rates," dude. Everyone & their brother has Final Cut. It's the same software "the industry" uses.

Bonnie's ass about 7 minutes in.

About women being humurous, produced by Opie, "Its funny and entertaining" -thermitepaint's shame account.

My eyes are bleeding

I didn't really like it, felt disjointed and aimless. Did like the O&A cameos though.

Agreed. Like I said it was kinda dumb but still enjoyable

i watched about 20 mins of it before i had to go to work. not only did bonnie come off as a needy nelly "do you recognize me???", but she inadvertantly proves the point that men are funnier than women. almost every interview with artie, patrice, and anthony was geniuinely hilarious, and every interview with a female comic was boring and self righteous. she took what could have been a very interesting concept, and made it all about her trying to prove to herself that she's funny. and she wasn't.

not to mention she completely overlooked hitchen's point, which is that women don't NEED to be funny. not that there are literally zero funny women out there.

I think Sarah Silverman was the only woman who made me laugh. The clips they showed of other female comedians during their actual sets weren't even their best bits so this documentary ended up looking like a huge backfire by the end, especially with Bonnie's terrible set and her break down afterwards. You'd think they could have gotten Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Kristen Wiig...hell, Bridesmaids itself is proof that women are funny IMO. This film made me think otherwise, that's how much it sucked.

I don't need to see it. I LIVED it. I'm at comedy clubs every week, sometimes ALL week. Statistically one in fucking SEVEN women are funny. They're awful. Women should not be cops, and they should not be comics.

I love Sarah Silverman, she's one of my biggest crushes. I got to see her earlier this year do stand up for the first time? Oof. I don't think I laughed once. I was really expecting her to crush; as usual, half the crowd was laughing: the women. That was it.

I'm like 10 minutes in and having a rough time making it through. I initially liked Bonnie but she comes off so needy and like she's rallying against all these mean old men who don't take her seriously as an equal. Oh boo hoo hoo, she makes it look like Vos drugged and raped her and forced her into fucking him 25 minutes after he met her. It just backfires and just makes her look like a desperate disty slut. Ironically now I'm m just watching and waiting for an alleged ass shot. Sweet suffrage, women on the world!!

However I do appreciate how much Opie managed to get his fat face on screen

Edit: oh, didn't see ass shot notice. Rewound, watched, meh, turned off

Women have never been funny on Netflix.

Actually, Sarah Silverman has some pretty funny stuff, but all the copycat women who follow in her wake are terrible. It's like if you watched Pulp Fiction now for the first time, you might not realize how amazing it was at the time it was made because so many shitty movies copied it throughout the rest of the 90's.

It's not amazing, its shit compared to Scorsese films (to use the most known and obvious one), Japanese action films, and other movies from before it ever appeared. It's just watered down flash for dumb people, for people whose taste is generally awful like Anthony. He's still funny of course, most famously hilarious people have terrible taste in music and movies, just the stuff for proles. Pulp Fiction was one of the shitty clones you are referring to, you just don't know enough.

Watered down flash for dumb people. Kind of like pulp fiction novels.

"Tarantino once described the old pulp mags as cheap, disposable entertainment that you could take to work with you, and roll up and stick in your back pocket. Yeah, and not be able to wait until lunch, so you could start reading them again." - Roger Ebert

http://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/pulp-fiction-1994

But maybe alexreleases is right, and guys like Roger Ebert just didn't know enough about movies to realize that Pulp Fiction is a shitty movie.

Colin Quinn sums up the entire movie perfectly in the first minute.

"I think a lot of guys aren't that fucking funny, either. When people go like 'well, women aren't that funny...' are you that funny too? shithead"

Colin is just scoring points with bonnie and women . Yes what hes saying is true, there is indeed a lot of bad comedians... however if you went around asking people who the best comedians are youre going to overwhelmingly get a list with bill burr, louie, chris rock, carlin, pryor etc. Only jamie kilstein or one of his fat lesbian fans would put a maria bamford Judy gold or roseanne barr on that list... and thats because they have an illogical, overly emotional need or agenda, to view women as equals to men in every facet of life...which is a completely immature dishonest and unrealistic way to look at the world. In reality, women do some things better than men, and men do some things better than women. However, men are just funnier...period.

Eh, I wouldn't be so quick to say "men are just funnier, period." Men try to be funnier more frequently (usually trying too hard) so we take up more space. I genuinely agree with Colin, most of us suck most of the time and the funniest guys I've known personally were no funnier than the funniest girls I've known. If anything, I want to fuck women so I'll laugh at their shitty jokes more.

And that retarded argument about "There are more men in comedy than women", they didn't bring up the fact that there may be more men in comedy because women in general aren't fucking funny.

Theres a free market of many female comics to choose from and in 2015 comedians have a fully brainwashed politically correct population to gain a following and make money off. Any one person can promote themselves through social media and the internet. if youre funny and motivated you WILL get a following. the clam card is now off the table. any talk of some kinda bias against women in comedy is nothing but an laughable excuse. Theres never been a bias against funny. Its impossible. Laughter is a universal, uncontrollable emotion. If you can be as funny as louis ck or chris rock or dave attell you will be comparably successful and known.

I have no interest in watching this movie because I think there are plenty of funny women out there and don't need a movie to galsplain it to me.

Get to see Bonnie 's ass. And I don't mean Rich.

well played.

OBSERVATION:

Anthony Cumia can not help himself from talking about race. Top 5 and women aren't funny, in his combined 3 minutes in both movies he brings up the blacks

To be fair Top 5 is mostly about race.

And scripted

i dont like how bonnie tried to put maria bamford over as the queen of standup. she sucks and shes not funny and bonnie came off desperate trying to kiss her ass. i would say the documentary overall failed to meet its own objectives since really bonnie and chelsea peretti were the only funny female interviews. also...bonnies ass.

my thoughts exactly...only you said it better than I would've

You don't think it's hilarious when female comedians do a 20 minute impression of their moms nagging them?

Maria Bamford is brilliant and hilarious you shitcock. Way funnier than any standup Norton has ever put out.

How is that even an endorsement?

I thought I was the only one that didn't enjoy Norton's stage routine. He always looks and sounds incredibly ill at ease, I can't bear to watch it.

He rules on the show though.

I feel that way with his specials. He always looks so uncomfortable on stage in those big theaters. I've seen him in some small clubs around Texas and he's much more relaxed when he's not being filmed.

I actually do like his standup. Bamford is in another class, though.

I really like Maria. I do think as she is usually considered the "only funny female comedienne" she tries too hard with the "nuh uh there are others, lemme post a giant list nobody will read." Which makes the scene where Bonnie begs to get on the list even cringier.

Maria Bamford is sort of funny and Bonnie is disgusting and terrible.

Maria isn't my style of funny, but she's definitely very funny and respected

I am not a fan of women comics or LA comics in general, but Maria is a funny lady with a very unique style.

She is completely schizo on stage, with the voices to back it up, she can kind of babble, but it is so off the fucking wall you enjoy it.

You know it's great stand-up when they can do a lot of different voices.

I acknowledge she is not for everyone but, I like her style, and her lunacy, personal opinion.

The title of the film fits. Bonnie is painfully unfunny. Listening to her and Rich's podcast episode with Bill Burr made me hate her more than ever.

She has no comedic substance at all. The Burr podcast was very typical, abrasive and prickly with no genuine humor to back it up.

"She is legitimately the funniest person ever. She is guy funny." - James "The Coddler" Norton

It wasn't bad considering it was her first documentary effort and they had a limited budget. Take any professional documentarian and compare their first movie to one of their more current ones, and the first would pale in comparison.

They sure aren't funny any where else either.

If retards and farts are funny I think we can accept that women are funny

I'll wait till it's on the Torrent sites.

Who the fuck doesn't have Netflix? You poor hobo

poor hobo

Isn't that redundant?

Those danm rich hobos!

im gonna call you monkey bars eddie

The o&a bits did not make this documentary bearable. If she was funny it would be at least worth it.

Wait... rich wasn't filming bonnie pantsless in that field? Was it bobby?
