Patrice loathed Opie. Opie represented everything Patrice hated about fake humans.It was funny listening to the white suburban liar trying to connect with the guy from the hood by using words like crib and bro.
I've listened to several Patrice clips the past couple of days and noticed this frequently. I think Opie felt it was difficult to "pick his spots" when Patrice was in, and had no other nuanced way to interject himself into the conversation other then yelling HOLD ON HOLD ON HOLD ON repeatedly.
This is pretty light as far as these go, I'm sure there are plenty of others in the Patrice archives that are way worse, not to mention the other shitty input he gave (spending an entire show with Burr and Patrice to rant about Stern and air clips of Stern's daughter comes to mind).
That's exactly what it was. Like he was so practiced at being contemptuous of anyone who doesn't realize "this is MY: show, and any time ME: has a line, you better perk your ears the fuck up. They're few and far between so you know they're all carefully measured and therefore excellent"
I know some people come on here to defend him for whatever reason, but did anybody, anybody listen to the show for Gregg Hughes? I get that Ant put people off for his regressive views, but he was a funny guy and brought a lot of people in. Jim is a cunt in a lot of ways but you gotta love him anyway. Opie did not entertain anyone.

Here's a clip I just caught yesterday where Opie interrupts funny riffing between Jim, Ant, Louie and DiPaolo to shout "HOLD ON HOLD ON HOLD ON" so that he can correct one single person on Paltalk who was wrong about something they said. He interrupts the show because one guy who isn't being heard on the air got what they said wrong.
