It doesn't seem like he read those to be jokes. Just shit to say to fill time and contribute. There are much better examples out there of him not listening to the conversation while skimming through instant feedback, then presenting a line as if it's gold, only to get total silence.
In this clip, though, there is a perfect example of one of my favorite Opie failures. Jimmy references The Star Chamber and Opie goes "Wow, that's really good."
Guarantee he's never seen the movie. Can't just let a reference go by or just give a polite chuckle. He has to pretend he totally gets it. Sickening.
my favorite is when he spends 8 minutes making noises while trying to find a line he just read, which of course gets a zero by the time he finally says it
I love it when he goes to the phones because he likes the joke on the screen in front of him that is about to be reiterated by the caller and the joke gets no reaction, proving again that dOpie hasn't a clue what makes something funny.
