Ant on O&A Podcast Question/Issue
0 2014-12-01 by [deleted]
Does anyone know if Ant receives residuals/royalties when they use old audio for the O&A Podcast? They used old audio this week. I noticed that they no longer put Ant's twitter in the podcast episode info either. Just seems to me like they're benefiting off of Ant's name without it benefiting him. Should we end our subscriptions to the podcast?

He doesn't, as doesn't Jim, Opie, or any one else involved in each podcast. The podcast is great promotion for Anthony, IMO.

He receives nothing he said.
This makes sense contractually.

Should they give royalties to other comics? When there is a replay, do they give opie or jim royalties?

Not royalties but they should include Ant's Twitter in the info considering it's A) his comedic talent on the podcast and B) he was half of the show for 20 years.

I think I read on his twitter a while ago that SXM owns the old audio, so I don't think he's getting paid.

I'm sure that when they settled the balance of his contract after firing him, any future use of Ant's voice in their programming was one of the points that SiriusXM and his reps negotiated.

What royalties are there on a free podcast with no ads? They plug his twitter.

Ended my sub months ago, it's usually replayed bits from that week and as I have no interest in listening to Opie Raqio, I have no need for auto-downloaded shit on my phone.

The podcast is a SXM product so I unsubscribed when I cancelled my radio subscription after Ant got fired.
