If anyone out there is good at editing the have a look at the first 15 or so Patrice shows - Opester takes 5 minutes or so out of every show to say "me and Patrice are getting a little friendship going on" or something similar. I listened to all the Patrice shows in order and it's somewhat inspiring to see the slow crumbling of Patrice's affection for Opie.
I did love that during the whole issue with Ant getting fired for being a racist they did point out the greatest counter argument was Patrice and Ant were really friends. There's no way Patrice would have been friends with an actual racist.
Very much so. But he was the kind of racist that gave you a chance to prove you weren't one of "them." And him owning his racism and prejudice is some of the best parts of the show. Like when he realized the Judd Hirsch character in Independence Day is an awful Jewish caricature, to him he finally understood why white people don't bat an eye at "Tyrone" caricatures. To Patrice that character was just a Jewy Jew doing Jew things because that's how Jews are to Patrice.
I think of all the shitty people in the world, and fucking Patrice had to die. Not the lukewarm DeRosa, not Captain Narcissism of the SS Shipwreck Opie. Patrice O'Neal is gone and our world is ironically darker without him.
yall acting like patrice would've hung out with ant in real social settings if ant was a regular joe and wasn't the host of a radio show that was a great outlet to show the world his comedy. they were about as good as friends as ant and bill burr were. aka radio friends.
Patrice wouldn't have to turn on Opie. Patrice would have called him out when he was being shitty as he always did. Or he would save the bit and guide it to a funny direction. Good radio would have been happening either way. This new even shittier version of Opie wouldn't exist if Patrice was alive and it shouldn't exist if Norton wasn't such a spineless pussy.

Patrice always despised Opie.
Opie is the personification of everything Patrice hated in fraudulent human beings.

Black people can't be racist.
At least that's what a black guy I used to know told me.

I think it's okay to admit that Ant is a racist and still like and defend him.

Patrice and Ant hung out at the compound all the time. Remember when Ant broke up with Jill? They were actually friends.

i imagined Patrice was doing his disapproval face scrunch in his grave whenever Opie would tell someone he hasn't shaved since Patrice's stroke
