Opie's development over 30 years

Do you think Ant would also be an insufferable cunt if instead of doing tin work, musical parodies, playing in bands.. etc. he just watched reality tv shows and listened to gossip news for the last 30 years? And would the corollary be true where if Opie actually had a real job out of college and took an interest in science he'd be the entertaining, less aggravating one? Or is it literally Ant's brain being so much better than Opie's that makes him the superior one, regardless of circumstances?

It's a combination of everything. Ant was raised by a lunatic father but it helped damage him enough to be funny. Opie had an overbearing mother that he convinced himself that she was mentally ill. Opie never did any actual hard work his entire life. He was a caddy for "the mob" and then he went into radio. Ant was a tin knocker and installed AC units. Anthony was married to a nightmare that fueled his rage and made him work harder at radio instead of going home to that disaster. Opie waited until he was 50 to marry a gold digger in her late 20s. Opie had 2 kids and it softened him.
tl;dr: Opie never had any struggles or hardships and it fucking shows.
