Opie brought up that they had Matthew Mcconaughey on the show before and it turns out it was a passive aggressive bashing over the phone. Now that he is on top of Hollywood, the Opster wants him back. I don't think it will happen.
Listening to the boys talking about what led to Matt's comeback was infuriating this morning. The McConaissance happened because of The Lincoln Lawyer. Sam and the guys are retards when they said it was because of Dallas Buyers Club.
Lincoln Lawyer was the start of his hot streak. His movie before this was Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, a shit movie 3 years prior. He took a break and waited for good scripts. Then he got Lincoln, it was a great film, and after this he did Bernie, Killer Joe, and Mud.
He also did Paperboy after Killer Joe, not a great film, but it was a Lee Daniels film with lots of stars, so he was at least trying to make a good film. I liked how weird it was and jacked off to how hot Nicole Kidman was in that film several times.
I wouldn't say the Lincoln Lawyer was a GREAT film. But alright, better than the drivel he was starring up at that point. He definitely had an increase in quality after that, but I would say his comeback really hit it's stride at Dallas Buyers Club. That was his first truly great movie in years. Bernie, Killer Joe, and Mud all flew well under the radar.
Whenever an A-lister was on this show that I actually liked, I always wanted them to like O&A like I like O&A.
But what instead happened was they blew up the interview like this, and were pretty much funny dicks, or they tried to hard to be respectable, cue the CQ bashing.
"Killer Joe" made me forgive Mcconaughey for all those horrendous romantic comedies he starred in. Haven't seen "Interstellar" yet but I also thought he was fantastic in "Mud".
Came home and saw Mud after Interstellar. Good movie. Nolan hired him after seeing the film.
when the actor flew to Los Angeles to meet with Nolan. “He came up to me and said, ‘Mud. I love that movie.’ I sat down with him for about 2½ hours at his house,” McConaughey explained. “Not one word came up about ‘Interstellar.

he did the same thing to Russell Brand. Beat the shit out of him when he wasn't there then moaned that he was disloyal for doing Howard instead...

Opie would never be anywhere near as famous as him. Life has passed him by.

Why would Matt come back after this?

I loved Interstellar, Killer Joe. I can't hate on Matt anymore. He's grown as an actor. :-)
