Artie's Rehab Stories

Man, I hadn't laughed that hard in quite some time. The Anne Frank Museum story and the kidnapped baby bit were amazing.

Artie is the fucking man. I was a Stern fan up until his departure, at which point the show became unlistenable. Artie has a lot of problems; we're all flawed in our ways, and he's more flawed than most. Sometimes when he was wrestling with his demons he was a dud (or literally absent from the show). But when he was on his game Artie gave me bigger laughs than anyone else on Stern and most segments on O&A.

I think an Ant and Artie podcast could be phenomenal if they have good chemistry.

Yeah, I used to listen to Stern everyday when artie was on. He was always a great story teller. Baby gorrilla, but even at the end his shit was starting to piss me off. I know why Stern won't let him back on. If they have a friendship its behind the scene.

Putting Artie in the compound would have him off the wagon in less than a month.

month? less than an hour honestly

I thought it was kind of funny how Jim is such a AA guy that he won't even mention it by name. He said to Artie "So, you still doing that thing that guys like us do?" and Artie not only mentions AA, but starts telling peoples' confidential anonymous confessions from group therapy. The stories were hilarious, but I wonder if that bugged Jimmy at all since he's "all in" with the program.

As a multiple time failure of those programs, I can assure you that as long as Artie did not give full names or specifics to identify the person it is ok to relate their experiences to others.

Oh, it clearly bugged him. You could hear through that entire segment of the show how he was not liking the way Artie was talking about his rehab.

Jimmy is such a bitch. No one should ever trivialize an addiction issue, but come on Artie had it way worse and has struggled way longer versus jimmys sobriety 25 years ago.

i liked the whole show on thursday with the obvious exception of jeff dunham

Did Dunham say "WAIT for the punchline..." again like the last two times he was on? What a condescending, un-conversationally-funny schmuck. Fuck that guy. And fuck his collection of Batmobiles he used to park in the garage across the street from my work, in Van Nuys.

Could you blame him? He was working with Gregg "Explain all the punchlines" Hughes.

Never thought he would ever actually go on the show, it was fuckin' great though I have to admit

artie isn't that funny tbh, but that's just like, my opinion, man. but every once in a while, he hits some serious home runs. i thought he was great yesterday. maybe i'll just biased since i read both of his books and being a recovering addict myself, they really bugged me. like TobyTheRobot said, everyone has flaws, but holy fuck, he was such a bitch about them.

that being said, i can't wait to hear him on Anth's show, should be a real barn-burner

EDIT - the end of the 1st book + 2nd book really bugged me.

artie is the funny guy on the job site, he's not burr funny.

exactly. he's a great guy to talk to at the bar, or have a BBQ with, but i can't make it through 10 minutes of any of his stand-ups.

Burr's not funny one bit. I watched one of his specials, and he kept doing an impression of a nagging girlfriend. It was not funny.

Bahahahaha. Please, enlighten us on who is funny Professor Comedy.

Yeah, Bill Burr has become insanely overrated. I've had quite enough of his obnoxious angry Boston guy shtick combined with his guilty white guy bullshit.

Well the only logical response to that would be- Go fuck yourself.
