I've heard Steve interviewed several times, and while he's a great comedic actor, his interviews tend to be on the boring side. I've never heard Anson Williams interviewed before, so I'm glad it worked out the way it had.
ya i like howards interviews, but he does annoy me sometimes. for guests that have done both stern and o&a i always preferred the o&a interviews. seth rogen for example.
The great thing about old o&a was opie would stfu for every single interview.
Is he though? All the interviews are repetitive. It all comes down to what happened in their life that psychologically they are the person they are. Steve Carell definitely had the same interview he had last time.
I got so sick of Howard playing psychoanalyst with celebrities. Those hour and a half plus interviews were what finally drove me to O&A and I've hardly looked back.
Yes, Howard used to be a great interviewer. His cable show, when it was all interviews, showed that - before every interview was trying to get the guest to admit they had anal sex. His interview with Paul McCartney was amazing, he got Paul to talk about Yoko and getting screwed over by Michael Jackson - Paul doesn't DO that. Or Rose McGowan talking about being raised in a cult. Howard had skill. Opie does not. The best he can come up with is "I got nothing.....awkward!" Jimmy tries, but he's too much of a fan, he asks fan questions. Ant has some skills, he can talk to anyone, and make it interesting.
Even an easy guest like Artie will be a waste with that bimbo Opie in the room.
During the Potsie interview did Jimmy ask the same question he asked to Garry Marshall "what did you do on Happy Days that u couldn't get away with today?" Garry answered the opposite (things they couldn't do back then) because it was a crazy question. It's Happy Days
If you were born maybe 7-10 years earlier you would have been bombarded with Happy Days reruns in syndication. Potsie was a minor character in that show.
Be happy you missed it, the show sucked, the canned laughter made me cringe. Even as a child I thought it was douchy, even if I could not express it as so yet.
I wouldn't even know where to watch it nowadays. I used to love Three's Company and recently saw a few minutes of it... Holy fuck, that show does not stand the test of time. All in the Family, though. Still amazing.
Ha, I remember that. Terri Alden replaced Suzanne Somers due to Suzanne wanting to branch out to bigger things..... like hawking knick-knacks and exercise equipment on QVC. She was a bust. Real question is, does Little House on the Prairie still hold up?
I was born in 1990 and as a wee young lad I remember watching reruns of Happy Days on the same channel that played Hogans Heroes, Magnum PI, Matlock, Hawaii 5-O, etc.. (I was poor and didn't have cable). Out of all the shows it was probably the most easily forgettable. I do remember liking Hogans Heroes a lot though.
He comes into my job #2 sometimes, with his kids. He looks super nervous, and when he pays, he pulls out a velcro wallet (like you had when you were 9) and rips out super crinkled/wadded up $20 bills. This man is a multi millionaire.
I love shitting on the 'never happened' beach shitter as much as the next guy, but their guestlist was never all that great to begin with, even when Ant was onboard.
Either their talent booker is a worthless confused monster or the show isn't exactly down with the hip style anymore.

Fucking media destination you fucking hater.
Next week they will have Bruce Willis' body double from Armegeddon, and hold on to your hats kids....
The week after they will have the guy who drove the pre- edited cut of Interstellar to the editors office.
Roland is on a fucking roll.

I remember that one year that Aaron Williams averaged like 6 rebounds per game for the Nets. Dude could really box out.

Howard always got better guest and most aren't memorable interviews. O&A trumped Howard on comedic conversations.

Howard is a great interviewer, I have to give him that. If it was him that had Tyson, it would have been a lot more compelling radio than "Awkward."

Howard is the best interviewer for people you don't give a shit about and the worst for people you respect.

Potsie answers. " well you could fuck underage girls a lot easier then.
Happy Days!
3 LoganGV 2014-11-12
O&J get Artie. That's a fair trade.
2 CookieHaid 2014-11-12
Didn't Jimmy use "Potsie" as a pejorative recently?
2 turdthief 2014-11-12
I was born in the late 80s. I need an older gent'lman to explain "Potsie" to me.

I was born in 1975, hence screen name, and enjoyed the show up until I was around 10 or so.
1 AntsCamera 2014-11-12
Yeah, our friend just missed it.
It was not a bad show....If you were a kid.
But watch it as an adult, now, and you will cringe.

I loved the "Chrissy on the phone" bit they did, because the replacement blonde was bombing the show.
Stop making me think of my childhood dammit. ;)

Yeah, the little girls can still be fapped to.

Also Tom Bosley did some awful 'anti racism' propaganda like a cunt.

I'm really gutted he didn't get Steve Carell on, he might have said something whacky or made a weird sound effect... Who gives a fuck.

Who gives a shit about Steve Carell. I would never want to hear an interview with him.
1 Opiesux 2014-11-12
I hate to beak it to you guys but Howard was getting much better guest long before the Jimmy and Hole show.

to be fair, Steve Carell will be the Horshack of the 2050s
up his heebie-kikeburger nose with a rubber hose or sumpthin'
