Maybe some of the people who still enjoy the show don't waste their time on a fucking internet forum that doesn't enjoy the show. This subreddit is the equivalent of a "We hate golf" subreddit. It's incredibly pretentious that you expect people who enjoy the show to feel an obligation to come here to defend their POV and the show. Whats even worse is that you equate them not giving a shit about your echo chamber sub to trying to be "independent, free thinkers, and going against the grain". That wasn't my argument, but I can understand how you could get that impression since "Opie supporters" is somewhat ambiguous in this sense. That being the case, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you weren't attempting to subject my initial post to a straw man argument. I took "Opie supporters" to mean those who defend him on this sub-reddit, and stand by my statement that I have yet to hear a legitimate defense of Opie on their part. I did not, nor would I ever assert that those who still enjoy the show i.e. Opie's twitter drones, or those who are apathetic, should have to come to this sub-reddit to defend their views, only that those who are vocal about their defense of Opie (already present) have nothing of substance in their arguments, which led me to the conclusion they are being contrarians simply to go against the general consensus of this sub-reddit, and not be "sheep". Which is a ridiculous notion, as typically most individuals who reject a general consensus on these grounds alone i.e. dismiss what is generally accepted simply for the fact that it is generally accepted are more absent minded than the "hive mind" they believe they are railing against. I wouldn't put the Opie "apologists" into this category if I read a single argument that had a shred of ingenuity on the poster's part, but hitherto I have not. I hope this explanation clarifies my original post.

I think it's habitual at this point. They're all still eating the lotus flower, not realizing anything is different. But their like little Opiettes. You see the comments with - "This had me howling" or "Bravo sir!" or "killed it this week." Rinse. Repeat.

No. This argument stinks. Jim and Anthony are smart and quick witted. The two of them together, going back and forth and genuinely laughing at each others efforts was/is undeniably great. Opie is the definition of a third wheel. His ship steering is also abominable. If you provide me with an example where the Opester contributed comedically or shifted the conversation into a better direction, I'll eat my shorts.

He did steer the ship. I hate the term but at his best, he did.

The thing is, a lot of fucking people could do his job. He was as replaceable as a studio drummer.

I believe he knew this, and he had to constantly prove his worth and show that the show needed him, and that's where the interrupting and throwing his weight around came in. In a way you can't blame him, but he's not entertaining.

Opie was good when he had a proper sidekick. Yes, that sidekick would ramble about race, troll, and instigate the fanbase and callers by telling them to "GO FUCK YA MOTHA YA CUNT. FBI STATISTICS MOTHERFUCKA" but he was DAMN hilarious.

Without that certain sidekick, the show has gone downhill rapidly. He's awful by himself

If this exact same show just started airing on some local shitty station and Opie and Jim would be some newcomers nobody would ever listen to that shit.

I agree with you. I don't know why it has to be black or white like that. I don't listen still for Opie's sake at all, but sometimes they have interesting people come through that are worth hearing. Personally I just don't give a shit about Opie, and if he's douching up the day's show, I turn it off and try again later.

Remember when Opie would ask this about Stalker Patti, Bobo, et al?

Meh. I only came to O & A about 5 years ago. Everybody's points are valid in regards to the annoying stuff Opie does, but it's nothing new. It sucks that Ant is gone, so I subscribed. Jimmy is the reason I checked out O&A in the first place via Lucky Louie. I think everybody here is too smart to change their opinion if the impossible happens and Ant comes back. It's only a matter of time before we turn on Ant...(its already starting to happen...)

I'm a former Opie fan. He has been fucking awful the last few months so that's gone but there are some good qualities. He has a really good eye for talent generally, and despite the fact that it's being used to mock him right now, the Hold On clip if I remember correctly actually lead to a really good idea for a bit from him. It was worth interrupting them to say it.

Don't take offense or think i'm making accusations but I pose the following questions:

Is it possible that you're attracted to a small (and subsequently young) looking penis because that is an age range you're most attracted to?

Do you perhaps have a small, or "shallow" vagina and this is based on comfort?

Did you have a bad experience with a large or even average size penis?
