He's regressed but I don't think it's been psychologically. He's stopped talking about his personal life as much. His jokes used to be so funny because he was relatable in the same way Anthony was always the interesting one who would tell stories about his personal life. Opie only shares the dull boring not-to-intimate personal stories.

I don't know if Jim thinks he's a "big celebrity" or if he's trying to go mainstream, but he's stopped being intimately personal. If he wants to go mainstream he really needs to stop making every other thing a dick or tranny joke.

I wasn't a fan back then, but have listened to clips of course. A lot of times it seems a bit phony, like he was trying too hard. That's understandable, but I think he's better now.

It depends, I don't go apeshit every time the Chippa voice comes out. A lot of the time though, yeah. I love it when he uses it to say somebody's joke wasn't funny on the sly.

He can be. The stupid jokes aren't always that funny, but sometimes the timing would be perfect. The whole room just riffing, dying laughing at something and then when theres a second of room Chip comes in and just says the dumbest thing ever and the whole room just comes to a stop. Chip can be really funny in that sense...

...also, what I mean by silly, random Jimmy is like "Steeped in folly", or saying he posted a picture of a close up of Ant in his horrible Tyson picture to show everyone that it really wasn't a bad picture, or his rant on how much the ocean sucked. So much funnier than he was early on...

This guy nailed it. He was a shock jock in the WNEW days, now he can still do that but has the characters and bits that are gosh-darn adorable.

what i liked more about those years is there was a lot less of moralfag jimmy showing up back then. eg: talking about how he doesnt feel right about downloading celebrity nudes = moralfag jimmy.

i just think having to day radio with opie day in day out will make anyone less funny over time. but ahh i still think jims great, hes actually gotten better at stand up imo.

if youre a listener of the OJ show then youre not going to be able to judge him properly, listening to that dogshit show will surely taint your opinion of him.
