Opie just has to take the reigns of the discussion to provide input, justifying his worth to the show. But it is detrimental to the comedic aspect of the discussion, only making sense to Opie, who doesn't care, or is unaware, that his contribution to the show goes against the flow anyone gets going.

I agree with you in THIS case that Opie is trying to create a bit, and the criticim is grossly misplaced. However, this clip is another example of how awful Opie is in general, so I hate him here for that reason.
