Why is shit-stirring such a prestigious quality in a broadcaster? And no, it fucking doesn't "lead to the funny". Lady Di and Bobo calls are the morning zoo, shock-jock bullshit that should be taken out back and shot in the head.
This was Opie's job for the last 2 decades...stir the shit and let more talented people be entertaining. Sick of everyone pretending like it's a redeemable quality.
"He's good at shit-stirring" and "he's a hard worker!" are the only two defenses for the guy. How about he be talented or even listenable?
I don't even hate him, he's just not funny or entertaining. I heard his "Sam Robert's show" and I couldn't get through 10 minutes because it's so boring (and he had Bobby Lee in studio!). He's not a good broadcaster
Literally any other work environment, Sam's attitude would result in either a stern talking-to from his management, or a swift and brutal hat removal. And whoopdie-shit, he's a hard worker, so are literally millions of other people, big deal. The duck-walking mama's-boy pro-wrestling fan who doesn't drink and orders from the kid's menu acting like he's better than ANYONE else is just fucking insulting.
Hey, you can say what you want about Sam, but he's a cunt midget with growth hormone face and his unjustified nonchalance and knowledge of celebrity gossip has no place in good conversation.
That said, he is a go-getter and I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours.
I listened with Bobby Lee in studio. It was the most infuriating shit I've ever heard. He was telling the story of how Ari Shaffir kicked his ass 3 times...
Took Bobby 25 minutes to get through a short 6 minute story. Sam interjected unnecessary clarifications or little anecdotes every 15 seconds. Whoo Kid (who I actually like on O&A) was the designated token black guy with things like, "Damn, niggahh!...White people be crazy, yo!"
Crucifixtion's too good for you; you should be made to live with his parents for a week, smelling his dad's buttermilk farts and having his mother show you her creepy closet of wrestling costumes and Tupperware full of Sam's pubic hair. I would rather hear my doctor say, "It's metastasizing at an alarming rate" than hear Sam make one porpoise-like sound.
That's fair. I can only handle him in small doses like his movie reviews he does. I can handle him in larger doses if Lady Di or Whoo Kid is in the mix.
Right. We all know Sam wants a gig as the main guy.
Sam has a mountain of on-air time at this point to "showcase" his "talent". Other wannabe radio hosts would die for that level of exposure.
Still no bites. No job from WWE. Sirius won't promote him to on-air host because his voice sucks. He gets scraps thrown at him from Opie to waste time on the channel and overnights at Hits 1.
Once Opie retires, Sam will wish he was Dennis Falcone. Of course, even Denny stood on his own for a long time with gigs doing his own show. Sam isn't trending in that direction. At this pace, you'll see some hipster with an awful haircut sweeping the lobby at SiriusXM in five years.
You sir, are confused. There is nothing comical about Sam with the exception of his physical appearance and being a shit stirrer is not a talent. It's called being a woman. Men don't stir shit.
His voice, his childish food choices, his obsession with muscular, male pro wrestlers... The guy is the epitome of annoying. He brings nothing to the show other than:
Fucking with Fez, Denny, and other "weak" people
Cringe-factor, unintentionally due to his voice and demeanor.
When it was O and A some was brilliant for the show.he made jocktober and seemed to be responsible for the YouTube clips they play.also was the go to guy for pop culture music etc.never understood the hate for him and there seems to be a lot
I don't find his voice annoying, and I find him positive and think he's a great straight-man. I also don't mind his laugh. When he gets serious or insecure, it's really bad, but other than that I like him. Also an awesome interviewer.
He fucking sucks. Opie Junior getting more mic time in the past year is the second worst thing to have happened to the show. I hate that guy, kissing Opie's ass to get air time, doing 47 extra shows for nothing and going nowhere in the business. He's a fucking phony creep.
I don't really hate him as much as everyone else seems to, but from what I've heard he is a douchy, uncompelling individual. THAT SAID, I absolutely love his shit-stirring "character" and his interactions with the show retards.
Also him bringing Patti and Sandy Kane to Cosmo Radio during the Christmas Supershow was probably the last great bit they did, maybe besides Lady Di's internship.
Sometimes you have to balance wit and independent thought with self-preservation. Sam has enough of the former to where I can forgive the latter. On top of that, there's enough, albeit subtle sarcasm mixed in with the "yes-man" element to where it's often satisfyingly devilish.
Considering that you misspelled BOTH "set-ups" and "punchlines," I'm actually thrilled that you fail to see my point. The Opie & Anthony show in its prime was never a formulaic "set-up/punchline" format (like, for example, The Big Bang Theory). Nor was The Howard Stern Show, Imus in the Morning, etc.... Go compliment Jim Norton on his "set-up/punchline" comedic stylings, and notice how inquisitively he'll look at you.

I never understood the hate for Sam either. His shit-stirring leads to the funny.
8 [deleted] 2014-11-03
Stop saying "the funny."
4 breadmoccasin 2014-11-03
That is an Opie term lifted from Steve Harvey's radio show if my autism serves.
1 drexler57346 2014-11-03
Has Opie ever done anything original? I'm constantly finding out everything he does is lifted from somewhere else.
2 breadmoccasin 2014-11-03
They might have used it before, but I definitely remember them making fun of Steve Harvey for saying he brought "the funny".
2 really-wise_-things 2014-11-03
He's 'all in' with lifting.

Agreed. I feel like he does a lot of shit-stirring behind the scenes that supercharges the chemistry of the staff/talent.

Seems fair. You seem like a reasonable person.

Sam should be like a muslim woman. Wearing a beekeeper hood and quiet unless spoken to. If he speaks out of turn he should be beaten and anally raped.
1 really-wise_-things 2014-11-03
I truly don't understand the Sam hate.
4 Lasagna_Hat 2014-11-03
I guess you've never heard the Sam Roberts Show
0 really-wise_-things 2014-11-03
I like it depending on the mix of guests/talent. Sam kills it with Whoo Kid.

Whoo Kid's token black act is hilarious and you know it.

-4 really-wise_-things 2014-11-03
Erock is WAY less comical than Sam and his physical appearance is far more offensive. Or Roland for that matter.
I'll grant you this, Sam does have some woman-ish behavior from time to time but it usually results in laughter, for me, anyways.

Ahprel Fahlls?
0 really-wise_-things 2014-11-03
No, Edgar. This time no AhPrel Fahlls...
3 AngeloMacon 2014-11-03
He's alright, but you have to give him one thing. He actually has chemistry with Jim and knows how to play the straight man.
-1 really-wise_-things 2014-11-03
I agree. His interactions with Chip, Edgar and Uncle Paul are great.
3 Hahrrgis 2014-11-03

A pointless, self-serving pre/post show.

2 BumbiBestie 2014-11-03
He ruins the show for me. I can't relate to him in any way, and his voice and laugh are annoying.
2 marsgamingchannel 2014-11-03
I agree. I've watched him grow as a talent until he easily helms a show much better than greggy
1 semihat 2014-11-03
Sam's appearances brought the OnA show down but are a huge boost to the OnJ show. Note that Sam hasn't gotten any better

Put your self in his shoes. He is just trying to keep his job and hopes WWE calls.
2 BeerCanThick 2014-11-03
You mean his job as executive producer, something he doesn't seem to care about at all? Zero show preparation, next to no production, etc.
Shouldn't that mangled-dick caveman be doing something behind the scenes? Step away from the mic, cocksucker! Sam already has a full show on Fridays
1 really-wise_-things 2014-11-03
We can agree on this: He is a mangled-dick half-breed. haha

-3 noropthony 2014-11-03
Sam is absolutely outstanding, but a little too nuanced and "30 Rock" for some of the set-up/punchline knuckle-dragging listeners out there.
2 really-wise_-things 2014-11-03
Too subtle for the knuckleheads and pests.
2 drexler57346 2014-11-03

2 Lasagna_Hat 2014-11-03
Yeah, like that Kevin Pollak confrontation. Took that like a champ
Also, how many times has he deflected insults to Erock, Denny, or some lesser staff member?
4 TroyMacClure 2014-11-03
"Like a champ"?
He had no comebacks. Nothing witty or funny in return. No talent displayed. Zero point zero from the radio judges.
