Anybody think ants firing could have been planned? It all seemed too convenient.

Ant had his whole studio set up and ready to roll, opie has been promoting opie radio for some time as well. It made for a great launch of ants show with all the controversy. Gave opie and anthony a clean break. Sirius is happy without the controversial opinions, and it came just as their contract was ending ready to draw up a fresh one for the opie and Jim show.

He could have easily made up the story and went haywire on twitter in order to get the wheels in motion

Easy there, Mr. Ventura. I'd agree that Sirius was probably looking for anything to fire him or get rid of the show over. When the opportunity presented itself, they cut ties with Ant and saw they could keep a mediocre show on the air at nearly half the cost without completely alienating the O&A fanbase so they re-signed Opie and Jim.

I'm sure Opie was excited it happened so that he could get "his brand" out there and "prove himself" and Ant has since said he's happy it happened too because he enjoys doing his own show.

But the fact that Ant and Opie blew up their own show? No way.

Fair enough

It was a controlled demolition.....something something thermite paint.

Ants show has zero growth potential. His subscriber base is a steady 27k but it's already peaked.

In my opinion, he made a huge mistake not going on a bigger promotional tour pre launch. He went of a no named podcasts

Maybe he tried but they wouldn't have him on for various reasons (not just his race talk).

opie has been promoting "Opie radio" & Ant had his own studio for years. Probably over 5 years. So i think it was just them ready for whatever came along.

I don't think it really made for a great launch of Ant's show. Who is really talking about it?

I mean we are... that's not nothing... and most of us think it's better than O&J is now so it's got that going for it.

No. It is nothing. This subreddit is completely insular; there's only a relative handful of regular posters, all talking to one another.

So while the buzz was great here, in the rest of the world it was nonexistent.

TACS, which is marginally better than O&J, has all the audience it's ever going to have.

No. Not at all. Take the tin foil hat off.

Go listen to the first show after the firing. That's real emotion.

Even if Opie had his brand and Ant had his, they both have said, even Ant, since then that they wanted to keep doing radio together. I think Ant is happy with his show but even he has said how it was good pay and he loved doing the show. You can tell he didnt want it to end, but he's making the best of it now.

Looks like Alex Jones is on Reddit!

Oh werd !,!!!

All three of them have had contingency plans since '09. Not quite sure exactly what Jimmy's is, but it's there. They've been ready to be fired for years now. Did Ant plan to get fired? No, and it's only convenient in the sense that Ant knew he could be fired at some point and was prepared. In fact, you can tell that Ant was caught off guard and that it was not planned, because LFTC had been a bit dormant for a while before his firing.
