Maybe it's because of where I live? Here in the long island/Nyc area if you say Opie and Anthony almost everyone (I'm talking adults) at least will go "Oh yeah I've heard of those guys." even my girlfriends hippie step mom.
I'd like to know how many cancellations there were though. Everyone who buys a new car gets added to the quarterly subscriber count even if they never pay a dime and let it expire at the end of their trial. Plus people who say they're going to cancel but get bribed into staying for stupid low prices.
I just recently called to cancel. My renewal fee for a year was $256. I cited that the content has degraded over the year specifically stating the O&A show. After some back and forth I ended up renewing for $46. I plan on using my savings to subscribe to Anthony's channel.
Maybe that aggressive 6 month deals they're offering has something to do with it. They literally asked if I'd get a 6 month sub for $26. That's not bad at all...and they've been doing it for months now.
People buy a lot of cars and they have deals with pretty much every automaker out there. They use the new subs with cars to inflate their numbers and they've been doing this forever. Their subscribers are always growing yet their stock keeps dropping. Something's not right with that equation.
It says right in the article that subscribers hit a record high due to extremely high car sales, and the majority of the SiriusXM subscribership come from new car sales. O&A fans don't even make a dent in the total amount of people who have SiriusXM. They could never make or break the company (or even get the company to reconsider a decision).
Lol, they count trial subs from car sales, smh... Satellite radio is a dying medium, the exec. Literally says "the vehicle" will push siriusxm into the future. Wrong, cars are becoming wifi hot spots and have internet connections now and removable tablets will be built into the dashes.
As stated. It's new and used car sales. Now, every vehicle in inventory get a 3 month activation (extending to 6 months) and then once sold the additional 3 month trial starts. This is on every vehicle with a factory Sirius xm unit. Done about 15 in the past 2 weeks.

Of course. Opie and Anthony have the same star power as Covino + Rich

Nope, most people have at least heard of Opie and Anthony. You think if Covino got fired he would be on the cover of the Daily News?

No they haven't. I'm a huge fan, but 'most' people have never heard of them.
