I had a friend that was like this. He shared several characteristics with Opie. He was a misanthrope, and a curious mix between being very 'sensitive' while also being an asshole. He was always telling you what he'd been eating or what shitty music/tv he watched, and despite having pleb taste he felt that he was very 'refined'.
A good sense of humor is very rare. This friend had an average/below average sense of humor, but was somehow obsessed with 'comedy'. So he was constantly trying to plot out, in his mind, what made something funny. He eventually came to the conclusion that being rude or insensitive is what creates humor (as funny people often get away with this).
Maybe this is what's happened to greg, lately? Maybe he's acting like such a shit in order to be the 'funny guy' on the show. He used to be alright.
How is that Opie has been around Anthony for 20 years and Jim and all of Jim's stand up friends for over 10 and he is still this unfunny? You think he'd at least be tolerable after all that talent rubbed off on him, right?
So dummy here is too busy studying the guy walking around a stage and looking at a stool, therefore he can't hear the jokes? What a fucking hack. I hate him so much. Just be honest and say you didn't find something funny. Don't lie and say you were "studying" the room. Fucking ugh.
"It's over Johnny, it's over............it's over.". Opie was probably the kid who repeated words in 500-word essays at school to pad them. On that note, has anyone noticed he likes to use people's FULL names when addressing them? What's that all about? "So, what's better; ketsup or catchup Sam Roberts?". I suspect he read somewhere (and he's all in with books) about Alpha-Male techniques, and this was one.
