Who's eagerly waiting for Jimmy's new special?

jimmy is as funny on stage as Opie is in the studio.

That promo for American Degenerate was 100x funnier than the actual show, where we're treated to Jim's jokes from the 90s and his blinky, bulged out eyes.

I was watching the Louie episode with Dane Cook and when Jim's grossly delivered "picking up young pussy" scene came on I reaffirmed CQ's line that Amos and Andy would be embarrassed by his overacting.

I'm actually just looking forward to the opening

I saw him live a few months ago because he was so close, and he killed. Very little hooker/tranny/pedophile humor.

It was all topical, hilarious, and very much like he is in studio. He also wasn't blinking and twitching like a creep. It makes me wonder if he just gets really nervous for tapings.

I hate that it's topical

He's really great on the radio.

What an apt statement.

It's titled "Jim Norton: American Blinker"

I love Jimmy as a radio host, but not as a standup.

Seeing as how that set on carolines that was posted here was really great, sure.

I'm more looking forward to Artie Lange's upcoming podacast. I can't wait to see what that obese junkie cooks up (tss).

After suffering through the poor material of American Degenerate and being really uncomfortable watching Jimmy smile from ear to ear after each line he uttered, I initially had no interest in watching his next special.

However a few days ago someone was really awesome and posted Jim's set at the Carlin event at a Caroline's and I cannot remember laughing so hard at Jim's material and I couldn't have been happier that someone told him to stop with doing that awful, fake smile after every line. While that was a great 10 minutes, I hope the other 50 minutes are close to that good. I'm interested to see it and wish him only success.

I used to love Jim's standup until he turned it into all topical material that is completely irreverent in a matter of months. His next special will probably have jokes about Gangnam Style and the Harlem Shake.

"So I hear Kim Jong-Il died, you guys read about this? Oh, isn't he awful?"

I saw him live when he was working on it, and laughed my ass off. Unfortunately, most of Jimmy's jokes jab at current news headlines, and nobody gives a shit about the General Patreus scandal any more.

I remember the name Patreus but don't remember a single thing about that scandal. Jim needs to knock it off with the topical shit on recorded specials.

i think jim is still trying to be too likeable like in his rascal set from the 90s, he needs to just calm down and be himself like he is in studio, he's like one of those pitchers who has amazing skills but they dont translate to the field.

and why so topical? i know it must be easier but come on.

This. He tries to make the audience like him too much. It's gross.

I think the biggest reason why O&A Jimmy fans don't like his stand up, is because it's usually the same material he talks about on the show and repeats everyday until it's like a broken record. Sort of like when he does a stand up Bit about Privacy. We all think to ourselves "Fuck!, Not This Shit Again"!!

me

Eagerly is a little much. I'll watch it if it comes up on netflix.

His standup is not my cup of tea. He's a better op-Ed columnist than a comedian.

Who?

I loved Please Be Offended, and the earlier shit, but American Degenerate was embarrassing! I remember sitting in front of my Tv, waiting for it to debut on Netflix. I remember it started ow, and I thought Any minute, it will get funny. And next thing I knew. The credits were rolling.

Also, His album Despicable, was the perfect title. It should have been called Monster Rain: Revisited. When I listened to it the first time, I literally got pissed for a minute, because I honestly thought I accidentally bought Monster Rain again by accident. And the weird thing is that he plugged Despicable sooo much before it came out. And he talked about how hard he worked on it. But yet it was 90% Monster Rain.

let's just say a li'l Jimmy goes a long way

None of the others have been even remotely amusing. This one will be no different.

I am actually! And for one reason in particular. While his standup has left something to be desired in the past he has moved in the right direction with every new special in my opinion.

Many jumped on him for his Vice monologues but I thought they were great. His presence was a lot better. He was not as animated as he's been on some of his specials. I hope he takes that experience into his new special and hopefully covers many topics outside of just sex and self deprecation and he might just push himself to the next level.

they were so great that Vice did not renew him. Jim will never cross over to the mainstream

You're probably right on that. He also has a long history on the show of making fun of people (black people, handicapped people, callers and pretty much anyone) which to us is perfectly fine but to the mainstream would be considered bullying. That certainly lessens his chances of crossing over.

I do, however, stand by the point that his stand up (he also had writers I know) on VICE was pretty good. By the way is it certain he won't do more VICE shows? I honestly don't know...

louis ck does the same thing but he's mainstream

Generally speaking, if a show scheduled for a limited run isn't renewed soon after (and this means a matter of days or weeks), it's not renewed at all.

Does this mean Norton's show won't be renewed by Vice? No. Just that it's highly unlikely now.

Ok I see! Too bad for lil' Jimmy, he really seemed like he wanted it bad. Don't get me wrong though, it wasn't without its flaws. Bailey Jay made zero sense for one and there was obviously a big drop in terms of guests after the White/Tyson show.

In my opinion Freeway Rick Ross was an amazing guest. I loved that interview.

I agree, It was good. Now imagine if it were Ron Bennington doing that interview.

Why is Ron interviewing Russel Brand? I Think it's impossible for a British Accent to be funny. Although I like Ricky Gervais. You could give Russel Brand Pryors funniest set ever, and it wouldn't translate with that accent.

Now that morherfucker is in the news trying to get arrested on some anti gun bullshit or something. Russel Brand, Piers Morgan, Jim Carey. Why is it that every pussy cunt that gates Americans Rights, aren't even American?
