I don't know why anyone would think the laughter at Chip is fake. You'd have to be really bitter to think that, because it's clearly wrong. 90% of the fanbase loves Chip and laughs at him just as much and as genuinely as Anthony, as is shown by all the imitation. It's not at all implausible that he's just another chip fan. Plus, we know what Ant's fake laughter sounds like (it almost always came after something Opie or a celeb guest said), and it's completely different. It usually goes "aaaaahhhhh heh heh heh".
I'm the guy who made that chart. I noticed a few years ago that Ant started giving over the top laughter to certain Jim lines. It was like when Jim's delivered a line that wasn't car crash-worthy, but also not laugh-worthy, out of nervousness Ant would give this fake belly laugh. All of the "..with a shotgun" and "hit her in the cunt with a shovel" got the type I'm talking about. I think people got so used to it that it just became "Ant's laugh" to them, when it was totally faked.
Chip often got this laugh. I just think Jim often takes advantage of the fact that Chip's schtick is that he's bad. So Chip can deliver lines that not only aren't funny, but the fact that they aren't funny isn't even funny. He just gets lazy.
I promise you it was practically never faked. If you read Jimmy's contributions as a transcript (or if english isn't your first language, which has a similar effect), then I see where you're coming from that he's not as funny as he gets credit for. But his brilliance is in his delivery. He slams home mediocre lines just by having confidence, and it works on everyone including Ant.
