That said it all right there. This is from the same guy that would spend months bitching about the very same company. How embarrassing. The company still has you in that tiny closet. Since the merger, all this company ever did for him was destroy his brand he spent 20 years building. They killed The Opie and Anthony Show, and now he's playing company man.
I know he's happier than ever because the narcissist has his name as the channel, but he should be so ashamed of what he's become. I'd never say another bad thing about Greggshells if he would just go ahead and admit that he's happy Anthony is gone and admit that Brother Wease style radio is what he's always wanted to do. Never before has anyone accidentally stumbled into a 20 year career. Congrats faggot. Fuck you Opie, you morning zoo cunt.
Is it just me or did they say that they haven't actually spoken to management?
Jim said something about not having spoken to Scott Greensteen (I have no idea who he is except that his name comes up a lot on O&A). Is this inconsistent with their previous version of events?
I don't really care what their relationship with management is like, but this part of the clip struck me as odd. Who in management are they talking to that is so happy with the show now?
One thing that really irks me about Opie's dogmatism is that he dismisses every single one of his detractors as "haters", suggesting that none of them have any valid criticisms. In the same breath, he will reference "all the positive feedback this version of the show has received", rather than labeling those who have given "positive feedback" as sycophants or mouth breathers. In other words, he is blatantly inconsistent when dealing with positive and negative feedback, accepting the former without question while turning a blind eye to the latter. From what I've seen, the "haters" have much more credibility than the Opster's twitter flock and can provide concrete reasons for why they feel the show's quality has been lackluster, while the sycophants usually just provide a "great show op!" or a "good job today guys!" You have to either accept all feedback or discount everything, not only acknowledge positive feedback as valid and ignore everything else (i.e. negative feedback) because of it.
Opie is a lost cause so I don't care what he says, but it bothers me when Sweater Boy Cutie says they had no choice in the matter, when they chose to resign with the same company they bitched endlessly about for the last few years and fired Anthony for no good reason.
Jimmy really should have gone to Anthony's podcast.
I think he lived with his parents until he was about 30, then moved into a terrible house in Jersey with Jim Florentine that had black mold and was infested with bugs. He was still living there when he started doing the show.
Opie has reminded us time and time again that he has "fuck you money". Maybe he should use that money to tell Sirius, the company he has bitched about constantly and fired his partner of 20 years, to "fuck you". Why does a 50 year old multimillionaire need to prostitute himself to a company?
even after all the years of shitting on the company, if opie said tomorrow - "yea i come here for a paycheck, fuck you fans, i dont care" he would get alot of respect. it the fact that he is doing the EXACT opposite of what he tought fans to hate all these years which is getting so much flak
Completely agree. These guys are full of shit if they wouldn't have done the same. Even more bizarre is that they hate him so much and still listen and start threads. That is just fucking weird. I don't like the show as much and listen less. Simple as that. Can't believe this shit still makes its way to my front page. "Opie sucks guys, I listen really closely tomorrow so I can shit on everything he says. Who's going to do it Tuesday?" Wtf?
Have you seen his wife? If he doesn't keep making a shit ton of money, she'll leave him. The only reason a hot bitch like her would be with a fat titty douchebag is MONEY.
Management is really happy with the show now. And like opie says it was a lot of work developing this new incarnation of the show. And there is a ton of positive feedback on the new show.
Interesting how the "obsessed" fans didn't start to bother Greggshells until recently. I could have sworn there was a period in the show's history where the audience's fanaticism was enjoyed and encouraged by the hosts.....
It's also interesting how Opie thinks that the best way to prove that someone else is "obsessed" with him is to spend 10 minutes of his show monologuing about the caller.
I get that he's Opie's guy and that doesn't really leave a lot of room for having a different opinion on anything, but:
It's easier to dislike something something and complain about it that to create something.
Really jerkoff? The logical solution for dealing with your favorite descending into shit is to start your own radio show? I didn't think it was possible to have dumber arguments than Opie, but this is the lamest defense I have ever heard.
The worst part is- Opie's right. Why some of you still listen is beyond me, it's just reminding yourself of past greatness. I only come here because I like to see the man I loathe be relentlessly made fun of.
What really creeps me out What really creeps me out What really creeps me out What really creeps me out What really creeps me out What really creeps me out
WE HEARD YOU!! You interrupting redundant OCD borderline personality disorder retard!
Fuck, this clip is a great example of why I stopped listening. And there's Jim being the battered wife with Sam the cuck fondling Opies balls, good riddance.
I understand why they re-signed. What annoys me is the constant bitching about the company they did for years and Opie repeatedly saying he was done when the contract was up. It was all complete bullshit while also being terrible radio. The company never gave them the bigger studio, a visual element, the dumb fan cruise, and all that other shit they asked for and whined about, and then they even fired the main reason the show was a success to begin with and they still re-signed. They've shown that the company can pretty much do whatever they want and they aren't going anywhere.
Also the fact that the show is now called "Opie Radio", the same name as his awful twitter, makes me want to puke.
What bothers me about the whole "Why do you listen?" argument is that a lot of us have listened to the show for more than 5 years. It's hard to just bail out after a bad couple months. I think it's fair for loyal and consistent fans to criticize and still listen.
The analogy to BTTF 3 didn't quite work, but I was just thinking of season 5 of 'Sliders', when they fired the star of the show as well as the executive producer. I've only watched like 3 episodes of that season, but WOW is it bad. It would have made perfect sense for fans of the show to get upset at the time it was still being made. It's not malicious to criticize something you love that is now going to shit.
If Opie would just shut his hole then maybe the show could be cool again. Jimmy just needs to say 'Opie, shut your fucking hole.'
He says 'I'd never continue to watch something that I've come to dislike' yet back when LOST was still on, he did nothing but moan about how much the show had gone downhill whilst continuing to watch religiously.
The thing Opie doesn't realize is that it's not that it's some small group of fans who is "creepy" because they don't go listen to something else... you have 20 years of history, and people are upset how sharp the deviation of the general nature and of the show has been. He's taking a deep and multifaceted thing and trying to shrug it off because he doesn't know how to deal with it, and they ways in which he's been trying to deal with it have been lunkheaded at best.
Come on, Gregg, we don't want to hate the show, and we don't want to be given reason to complain about you getting in the way of literally everything good about the show, as much as you and Jim may think otherwise. Steer the fucking ship, captain! Don't try to snag the band's instruments when one of them takes a lead! Don't you think the harsh Jocktobers, especially the Scott & Todd editions, are informing our attitudes about the current show?
Look, it's not like this is new, and it's not like the show wasn't already declining, what with Ant's sharp, impassioned humor gradually having the humor boiled out... hell, you can't just pin that on Ant either. "Serious Jim" wasn't an instant post-Ant invention.
One could take the usual route and point to the loss of Patrice as a big factor in this, and while it wasn't negligible in effect, it just hurried the process along. 20 years is too damn long, as much as it warms our heartcockles, but Sirius chopping off gran-gran's legs and letting him bleed out isn't exactly allowing one to go gracefully. Basically, what I'm trying to say is the new show sucks, and we dog it because we in our hearts know that it shouldn't, but know in our minds that it must. Man, I'm drunk.
Opie has a point though. If you don't like the show why do you keep listening? I also don't blame them for re-signing. A lot of people work for them so by not re-signing they'd be putting all of those people out of work. Also, I'm sure the money ain't bad.
You know that band Weezer? In the mid-90s they created 2 absolutely incredible albums. I loved them. I still love them. Then Matt Sharp left the band, Rivers Cuomo lost his mind for a good long while, and churned out some of the most disappointing albums ever. But I still bought them, because it is Weezer, and because while there might be 13 absolutely terrible songs on the album 1 or 2 of them will be a reminder of how great they can be (Except for Raditude. Fuck Raditude.) Fast forward to a couple months ago, Weezer releases their first album in 4 years, Everything Will Be Alright in the End, and it's legitimately great. Why? Because he finally, finally took the fans feedback to heart.
People are just waiting for Opie and Jimmy to finally release a good album without their old bass player.
People are just waiting for Opie and Jimmy to finally release a good album without their old bass player.
The only problem, though, is that Opie was NEVER any good. It just seems that a lot of people never picked up on that fact until the spotlight that was on Ant got redirected.
That's not a very good analogy because checking out an album here and there takes a lot less effort than listening to an almost 4 hour long show everyday. The complainers are like people that keep going back to the same restaurant even though they know they won't enjoy it.
No they're like people who keep going back to their favorite restaurant they've been going to for years, but it's under new management and their favorite entrees are being replaced with something less appetizing. But they keep going there because they always have and so have all their friends.
Have you ever watched a football game where the home team is stinking up the joint and at half time 25,000 people boo them out of the building? Are those people pets or computers? Or are they passionate fans of their favorite sports team they've been following for years and want to see do really good instead of really bad. To quote the Sweater Boy Cutie "you're being disingenuous". Or maybe you're just some contrarian douche, but it is not out of the realm of possibility that people who have loved a thing for years to be upset about a thing when the thing changes for the worse and resists all feeedback. Enough already.
I think they're idiots. I don't watch football games, or any professional sports, because it's pointless. If I enjoy a game, I go out and play it. Watching grown men have playtime is fucking retarded. Working is working, playing is playing, and I'm not going to financially support overpaid children who have 6,7, and 8 figure salaries so they can keep playing around. Are you familiar with the term "bread and circuses"?
There has been exactly 1 guy that got through twice and everyone screams victory? He says that he is good at getting through the people screening the calls. Where is everyone else? I don't hear them when it comes to on air call time.
This one was really pathetic how that stupid back to the future analogy explains why jerry still listens to the show. Opie is right why the fuck do this fuckers still listen.
And the amount of insane explanations trying to dismiss a simple question is retarded. They keep listening because theres nowhere to go no better show to listen you even have the anthony cumia show now although according to that subreddit that fucking show is dead theres less posts and people there than the ron and fez subreddit. Wich by the way is the superior show now, ron and fez is better than opie and jim and the anthony cumia show.
I hope jerry finally understand that he can stop the morning torture he goes trough just by going away, and remember opie, anthony and jimmy all 3 of them HATE the fanbase and they are right to do so.
Completely agree. These guys are full of shit if they wouldn't have done the same. Even more bizarre is that they hate him so much and still listen and start threads. That is just fucking weird. I don't like the show as much and listen less. Simple as that. Can't believe this shit still makes its way to my front page. There has been exactly 1 guy that got through twice and everyone screams victory? He says that he is good at getting through the people screening the calls. Where is everyone else? I don't hear them when it comes to on air call time.

Good point, what's your solution?

Jimmy. And you're a qweeb.
3 MrDurden42 2014-10-24
Jimmy hates seeing beheading videos but still watches.
3 WiretapStudios 2014-10-24
The show literally was beheaded, and is now just a body, bleeding out.
3 jgnurly 2014-10-24
It's so painfully obvious that Opie reads every one of the "hater" posts about him on this subreddit
4 IggysGlove 2014-10-24
It's part of his checkin numbers routine.
3 snoopkhat 2014-10-24
Opie doesn't know what an analogy is.

'Jerry Seinfeld? Jerry Lewis?' lol
Pretty funny there at the beginning, too bad Opie stepped all over Jim's jokes, as always.

I really don't listen to the show anymore, but it's like a car wreck. "If you don't like car wrecks then why don't you look away?"

The company was once the great oppressor, now it's the fans

That coming from someone who called himself "the destroyer"
4 jakdak 2014-10-24
This is Opie's standard "You don't have a valid opinion if you don't have your own morning show" argument that he's made time and again.
You also can't tell if your meal tastes like shit if you aren't a chef.

3 BRUTAL_ANAL_RAPE8888 2014-10-24
even after all the years of shitting on the company, if opie said tomorrow - "yea i come here for a paycheck, fuck you fans, i dont care" he would get alot of respect. it the fact that he is doing the EXACT opposite of what he tought fans to hate all these years which is getting so much flak
