Is the show really that bad?

I haven't listened to the show since the Anthony fiasco but I recently have started to listen to weekly podcast and the last podcast with tera reid was hilarious. Is the show as bad as everyone is saying or everyone just hating? Or is the podcast good because it's hand picked? I hate to ask this but is there a efficient way to listen to o and j without a subscription? I don't want to give money to SiriusXM. I rather give it to the talent instead and after paying 7 dollars for Anthony's show its hard for me to pay all that money to listen to one show. Thanks guys.

It is really that bad. I resorted to just listening on youtube to the clips that I read are funny on here. Not worth listening to a show for 3 hours just to laugh at a 15 minute break, when you can just listen to it on youtube.

The only bad thing about it, though, is since the show is so bad, this board(which is more entertaining then the show itself) is starting to slowly die. This subreddit fading away is more sad to me than Greggshell's show in the dirt.

I don't remember ever turning off O&A before Ant got fired. Even if they weren't killing, it was still something. I've maybe made it through one full show since.

The show is now basically the same as if Jim visited a local market morning zoo. Plus the occasional a-list guest or 3rd mic.

Jim is still hilarious, the guests can be funny, it's just nowhere near as funny. I'm not freaking out like everybody else seems to be, but it's like 75% Opie, 25% everyone else.

There are days that are really pretty solid, but they are becoming the exception to the rule as Opie becomes more and more openly hostile to the audience and passively aggressive towards Jim.

Nailed it. Opie knows a vast majority of the listeners hate his guts, but he's too narcissistic to realize he's self destructing. He's thinks he coming out ahead for some reason. Look how bad the show has gotten and it's not even one month after re-signing. The show won't make it past a year.

Depends on the guest, or lack thereof. Whoever the third mic on any day means a lot too. Overall I still listen because its more topical than any podcast, it still entertains me, and I pirate so...

You know sometimes i read the listening threads in the am cause i listen in the afternoon when a link gets put up and think these guys are just nitpicking but then i listen and fuck if the show doesnt suck. If you could take one hour from each day you might be able to get 1 decent show for the week

The funny thing is, my wife stopped listening to that show (something about Taylor being an annoying rich bitch) and started listening to O&A this past June. Her one complaint? "I like Jim and the one guy, but I really hate Anthony." So now the shitty show is perfect for her.

Operating out of Manhattan with language and show format freedom, Opie has managed to still create a Classic Rock morning show. It's lame and boring with glimpses of humor from guests or when Jimmy is allowed to talk without interruption.

For me? I dropped sirius. I can see Jim be himself once in a while at Anthony's. I always thought Opie's purpose was to steer the show. He isn't funny. He's not entertaining. Jim needs money. That's about it.

Jimmy is still funny and Opie knows how to manage a show, Sam, Erock and the rest of those guys are still around. But without Anthony there its far from the great show it could be and the usually good show it is.

Ant was a driver of 40-50% of the comedy on the show and while Jimmy can drive a good chunk of the comedy its just not able to be what it use to. Better than most things you hear on radio but far from what the show was.

Oh yeah, I tried listening the other day for the first time in a while, it's god awful. If Opie was like Fez and kept quiet because he knew he had nothing funny to add, I would listen, but he actually thinks he's talented and tries to talk more than anybody and it's absolutely terrible.

we just miss ant is all, show isnt really much different other than that, we were still bitching when ant was here, but now that opie is the center piece all the fans attack because when ant was there if they attacked it made it seem like it was against ant and ant super fans will never do that.

Overall I don't think it's as bad as people make out, but there are these times where Opie says/does shit that is so cringeworthy that it derails everything for a while. The show recently with Florentine was good, but Opie had to throw in a bullshit story about being offered a job with VH1 that was completely unnecessary and killed all momentum. Didn't ruin the entire show though.

TACS bored me too much, had to unsubscribe again. KTC and Rat are unlikable, he needs more guests. The show is great when someone else is around, on his own it's pretty bleak.

Just hating. It still a good show. Many people can't move on without the show they have become used to for the last 20 years. It's outlasted marriages and lives, so some people have become so dependent upon their daily dose of radio. It's like getting a n addict to stop heroin and giving them methodone. It's a rough transition.
