Why Opie is one of the most intelligent radio hosts (here me out)...

What Opie has crafted in the last 5 years or so is brilliant. Let me explain...

• Remember Opie's disgust when a public figure got fired for saying something on twitter, and none of the coworkers or other management had their back?

• Remember how Opie made fun of the Clippers protest against Sterling because all they did was
wear black socks and throw their warmup jerseys on the floor?

• Remember how proud Opie was to be the only radio show to “call out” the media... even his OWN media?

• Remember Opie's threats of quitting because management was stifling his creativity, and not letting the boys do what they what?

Well, here's where Opies brilliance comes in...

• When Ant got fired, was there any support?
Anger? Disgust? Nopie.

• When it came time to renew the contract, what did Opie do? Did he take this opportunity to “stick it to the man” and go off on his own and make a podcast.. do what they want... say what they want? Nopie.

So why is this brilliant?

Because Opie's rage over unjust firings.. ability to “call out” the media... his courage to piss of his own management even at the risk of not getting invited to Stern's birthday party... many rants threatening to leave... all of that was just... a “bit”.

Bravo, Opie. You are the master of the bit.

I bow down to you, sir. You had me fooled. This year's Jocktober is on the fans.

Quick note: what about Jimmy? Jim is too cute to be this smart.

Opie is brilliant because he was able to make millions while having zero talent. There are 1,000 zoo crew jocks to every good jock in the radio biz. Those zoo crew jocks make little money and have to hop fom job to job and city to city every few years. Opie is one of the few talent less hacks who was able to make millions from it while earning the top billing of one of the more recognized shows in the country

This is like praising Scorch for being a genius for bumping into Ant in 1994 and then Jim Norton in 2001. Opie bought two winning lottery tickets in 20 years.

Opie can't even scout talent that well, unless you're a big Roland, Sam Roberts and Jason Ellis fan.

No. The last show I listened to was the one after Ant's firing. I'm a huge fan. And often the biggest fans are the ones that criticize the most.

Because "The Opie and Anthony Show" doesn't exist anymore. You would have a point if he were making threads in the opieraqio sub, but this sub is now devoted to talking about Opie or Anthony or Jimmy.
