I wanted to hate the Opie and Jim show...

I wanted to hate the new Opie and Jim show, I really did. I said things like “Noooo this can’t be happening, this show is absolute shit”. When the guys came back on the air that Monday morning I told people I hated the new format so much and that the show wasn’t going to last long – then Friday rolled around and I found myself sad that there wasn’t a new episode… it was all a lie. The new Opie and Jim show has grown on me. I understand people’s initial frustrations with the re-signing, I too was holding out hope that the trio would be back together but just because they aren’t doesn’t mean that they won’t ever. People change, shows change, life changes – it’s part of what makes us human. I’ve finally come to accept that for now these three guys are doing what they have to do (or doing what is best for themselves and those around them) and in the process providing me with over 5 hours of content (with O&J and TACS) each and every weekday and ultimately making my work go by that much faster. Sure I’m going to keep dreaming about the day that they all reunite but for now I’m just going to enjoy what I get and be thankful for these 3 fucking buh buh boys.

I don't hate O&J, I'm just totally apathetic to it. It doesn't capture my attention at all and as a result, I haven't listened (beyond occasional segments with guests I like) in several weeks.

Same goes for TACS honestly. Neither show is compulsive listening like the O&A show was, so I just stick to archives.

I'm like 90% checked out at this point, just gotta give it a little more time...

During Jocktober, the guys would yell, "WHO THE FUCK LISTENS TO THIS!?!?"

The answer is habit, no other options, and hearing familiar voices every morning is somewhat comforting

OpieRadio with Jim Norton will eventually fall into this category where fans just surrender to the ritual of listening because their voices bring back an auditory nostalgia of happier times

I feel the exact same way. I still subscribe to SXM because its in my car and fuck terrestrial radio. But when O&A were together, that channel would almost always be on. I'd listen to the show, R&F, and even the replay(s). Now I'm listening to other channels and sometimes remember to listen in.

I wish I was in my car more often 12-3 so I could listen to R&F.

I disagree completely, I think I listen to a show a week or so. I actually look forward to Bennington

I couldn't get past the first 25 minutes of the Bennington show.

TL; DR I wanted to hate the opie and jim show...

So I did.

That's not accurate.

I tried to listen a couple days ago and opie complained that mony mony was the best Billy Idol song.

God he sucks

200 plus words and all I got out of that was "@OpieRadio...Its not absolute shit"

Talk about damning with faint praise! The show isn't absolute shit! Yay!

Use your aggressive feelings, boy. Let the hate flow through you.

Let it flow troo ya fawkin pecka asumpthin

TSSSS FAWKIN HILAREOUS.

Just think during every bit this month, they could be doing Jocktober.

buh buh boys.

Oh, fuck off.

not a word on why you enjoy the new show?

I love how everyone who ends up defending the show ends up a babbling retard with "well you know why do you even subscribe?" I dunno fuckface, why did they do Jocktober?

Great point.

This guy gets it.

Chip & Uncle Paul are 3rd and 4th mic, which helps a lot.

Haven't listened to Opie and Jimmy too much. But from what little I have listened its OK. Its not a bad show as Opie is smart enough to book comedians for every show and Jimmy is pure gold. But without Anthony there just is that thing missing.

Its probably better than most things on regular radio but no longer the best audio program out there. Its good at times, bad at times, but most of the time its just slightly better than your typical decent radio show.

It's not that bad or different without ant. You should be annoyed with opie, he's the one trying really hard to fit in now.

i've started listening again daily similarly to how mr hands nailed studs into his balls, i just want to feel something... the pain that becomes pleasure.

You ever notice how none of these pro O&J posters never seem to mention what is good on the show outside of comics sitting in on the show?

I'm still plowing through the show out of habit for a little while longer and it's really dull unless comic/Chip/Uncle Paul show up.

The opening song that turns into a serious music discussion between 2 people who know nothing about the band is boring.

Than we get personal stories/behind the scenes stuff. This usually blows because Opie is a dullard and Jim doesn't talk about getting shit on by hookers anymore.

News/Sports stories are up next and boy do they have interesting and different takes on things. At least that's what they think because they don't even attempt to be funny unless Jim can work one of his characters into it. (Uncle Paul defending Seventh Heaven guy was awesome)

Than we finish up with interviews. The fucking awkward, ignorant and boring interviews.

This is the format of the show. Please list examples of what you found to be good. I know nobody can list an interview or music discussion. Maybe you found the work lunch discussion where the boys sent a fake birthday cake to Troy? hoho. The ebola talk do it for you? The shock jocks get a story about a disease that makes you shit to death; and they somehow manage to take the high road and make Grandma like observations instead?

agreed

Uugghhh fuckin kill yourself!!!

you low IQ babbling cunt

Yeah I agree. Anthony has gone too extreme in the last few years. He's had a bunch of good ones but it wasn't worth the 45 minute rants on black people. The show isn't much different now and there is another comedian in every day. Jim has good relationships with all of them.

So the only other thing you have to do is ignore Opie which most of us have been doing for years.
