That made me feel so sick. Is that a 50 year old man bragging about being a caddy for mob guys when he was a kid? The way he talks is so unnatural, like its a parody of someone who thinks they know how to talk about being in the mob. It really makes me uncomfortable..

That was hilarious last week when cheech said he loved basketball and Jimmy proceeded to tell Opie's Pistol Pete story.

Mafioso Chippy D was directly inspired by and came immediately after Opie's claims that he "did some tings" for the mafia and refused to elaborate because he's "no rat."

There's definitely something going on. Jimmy has been more aggressive with his characters lately. There's almost a hostility to how he's using them now. I think he's sort of trying to simultaneously address the Opie hate, and make the show entertaining again. I think he's experimenting with what the show should be now, and is in the the process testing out the whole straight-man Opie/obnoxious funny man Jimmy combination. He must have realized serious Jimmy won't work in the long run

I think he is. I've noticed when Opie cranks up the steamroller lately, Jim will often say something under his breath.

He's been doing uncle paul a lot and its pissing opie off. Instead of yelling HOLD ON HOLD ON HOLD ON to stop the funny this time hes going ugh

I've definitely noticed Jimmy taking the opester to task more than he used to. One of his most annoying habits is whackidy-whacking away on the console with his dumb fat palms like he's 4 years old. A few weeks ago Jimmy just stared at him (you could tell because of the silence) and asked him wtf he was doing. He was forced to apologize (through douchey laughter) and claim he didn't realize it would be so loud. Made me extremely happy.

Hopefully Jimmy gives him the ol' pay no mind treatment like Todd did to Scott.

I don't think Jim's a sly guy though. He'd either say something directly (probably off air) or not say anything at all. He probably just enjoys Opie's reaction to his characters.

Jimmy is also slyly applying THERMITE PAINT to Opies chair. Jimmy has no Ant to bounce ideas with so he goes into characters instead in hope of finding something funny.

WillFoley I'm pretty sure Jimmy is plenty used to biting his tongue and not bashing Sensitive Skin Opie. He has been holding back for 10 years. Imagine how little would get done if Jimmy did the "Honest Radio" that Opie claims to do. Jimmy would make fun of Opie for Something, Aaaaanndd QUE THE OPIE PUSSY PITTY PARTY!!!

Opie would sit quietly for a minimum of 20 minutes, then he would make poor me comments under his breath, and then it would get uncomfortable, so Jimmy would inherit Ants old job; which is Try to Change the subject and be funny, while Opie Pouts quietly another 20 minutes. And finally, Opie loads the phone bank with praise calls!
