They have a 1 year contract. The show will lose steam, as it has been, to the point where the amount of listeners won't justify their salaries. Opie will claim he didn't want to re-sign but the reality will be SXM will be done with them. Jimmy can hang in there for a year, but unfortunately, this new format that requires him to interact more will expose his weaknesses and turn off a lot of his fans. And there is my stupid opinion....

It was funny to hear Mike Rowe say, "We don't work for the network, we work for the fans." Opie said nothing in response. I'll take the next year and enjoy watching the radio expert self-destruct while Anthony thrives on his own show.

Anthony and the rest of them realized the future is podcasting and video. The technology will continue to advance in that direction to make it easier to find and listen to podcasts. You have these independent networks like Kevin Smith's and Feral Audio raking in hundreds of thousands of listeners, and if it somehow turns out that Anthony can turn a dollar in his format with his model and The Opie Show starts losing money, it'll be a really good case study for how things are changing.

The rumor is, based on what Anthony stated, he makes more money from his podcast than he did when working at SXM.

I've heard this mentioned before... There is no possible way Ant nets what he did on radio.

What i think is that the new show might have a higher revenue than what ant made at sirius, but i highly doubt they made more profit than that.

The Opie Radio Show will be cancelled by this time next year.

I unfollowed everything from the show, except for Jimmy's Twitter. I dropped the O&A and the Opie Facebook feed, I finally even dropped Opie on IG. I stopped listening at the end of August, but I couldn't bring myself to totally cut off from the show; it just felt wrong somehow. I was such a fan for 15 years, but it's just like....it's over. Even Jim's Twitter is boring. (For the most part) "Today I settled all family business..."

jimmy's got vice, i imagine the ideal at the moment would be that anthony and jim make a podcast show together, but i'm hesitant to fork out all the money needed to subscribe to the show (everything o and A wise i found via youtube)

No. I agree with uncleluke. Luke isn't being a teenage girl, he's saying that he is over the show and just doesn't care to follow it, or really anyone from it, anymore. I only follow Ant and Jimmy from that whole universe now.

The show sucks now. It's only good when there is a third mic that Jimmy can goof with. As long as SXM pays them they will stay there.

I remember back in the day, Opie would brag that there was no splitting up Opie and Anthony, that other PD's had tried, but there was just no way they were doing a show without one another.

As a listener it felt like they had a bigger bond.

O&A&J ranted and raved about people getting fired for things they said and how ridiculous it was.

Now in the end its just about $$ for Opie and Jim, and yes I know Anthony understands.. but you can tell he's a bit bummed by the whole thing even though he is making more money.

After Ant was booted, you didn't hear the same rants and raves that they would go on about other shows and firings... You would have thought that Opie and Jim would go on a rampage at XM, go on strike, tell mgmt to fuck off.. but no they got nice TWO year contracts, and nice raises.

I hope O&J stay together, they kinda deserve it. Jim can talk about addictions, Ozzy, big clits etc.. and Opie and walk all over him ..

Today I noticed Opie stop a discussion in its tracks, all because he couldn't read the word "squiring."

He rattled off three spearate, incorrect, non-words, asking "is it that, or that way?"

Jim had that tone like "you know this, please, you can't be this inept" when telling him the correct pronunciation and guessing to its meaning.

When Sam finally reads the correct way to say squiring, and its meaning, ol' fanboat steerer goes "well, why can't they just say it like that?!?" Because some people prefer to read articles written above a second grade reading level, you insufferable dunce!

The show, in general, could use some more pauses. It still feels like they're in a race to get to the next sentence sometimes.

One thing you have wrong. They will not fight, even though that would make for great radio.

Ever since the '05 fight, Jimmy has been completely standoffish whenever it comes to any sort of conflict between him and Opie. You can hear it even when Opie tries to throw in a playful barb as a joke. Jimmy takes it completely seriously first and jumps on the defensive.

Opie is like a spoiled brat and Jimmy will continue to enable him until the end of the show.

I think XM probably paid Jimmy a lot of money for the two year deal. Jimmy isn't going to walk away from that even if the show's quality isn't very good. He is going to make it to the end of the deal as its going to be hard to pass up the amount of money he would get.

Jimmy has said that he doesn't have fuck you money like Opie and Anthony. Doing a show that you aren't proud of for 2 years to set you up nicely for the rest of your life doesn't sound like too bad of a deal.

Nothing will happen; they will both continue to collect those Sirius/XM paychecks, what else could they do? Bring in someone else who wouldn't gel with them just for the sake of having a 3rd mic? Opie steers the ship, Jimmy plays his part and that's it, and at the end of the contract they'll sign another one. What else is Opie going to do? He could do FM morning radio and talk maybe 3-5 min every hour or so, then what for Norton? Just his comedy? They aren't idiots, they make really good money to turn on mics for 3 1/2 hours a day, 4 days a week they know this therefore will ride Sirius until the wheels fall off.

Yeah, 3.5 hours of radio talking to his friend, usually with another friend in there, plus his other friends who are on staff to bounce off of too. Damn, that sounds awful, IDK how he's going to do it.

Bringing Ronnie B over to the "Opie Channel" to do Friday shows was a masterstroke. That alone makes me hope the channel stays alive for a while.
