Was Opie being sarcastic?

When Opie said "his Royals" and that he has been a Royals fan for years, but just never brought it up before, was he just trying to be funny?

If it sounds awful it's definitely him trying to be funny. He does it all the time. He will throw out a bomb, it will get crickets and no one dares acknowledge it and then everyone just moves on like it never happened it all...

I'm not sure but I love when he says "Royals" from that year-and-a-half old Lorde song, sooo fucking funny!!

Holy shit is this a real question? What happened to the good ole days when all the posts were "Opie sucks?"

If anyone called him on it, he'd say it was a bit and that he's doing it on purpose. But he knows nothing. He figures he can't be called a bandwagon jumper if he says he's been a fan for many years.
Couldn't name a single Royal besides George Brett though.
And he called it the ALCS...TWICE.

He was doing the same shit all of you unfunny dorks do with your friends and co-workers, jump on the bandwagon of a team in such an obvious way it was meant to be humorous.
