Is TACS really this Amazing show that everyone makes it out to be - Compared to O&J ?

I want to start by saying I'm a big Anthony fan. Was gutted when he got fired and been a paying subscriber since day one and haven't missed a single TACS. But the way everyone makes out his show is SO amazing compared to what's left with Opie and Jim. Is it really 'that good'? I know most of you have got your heads stuffed so far up Ants arse your blinded to anything else going on around you. But let's face it...its one small piece of what was the greatest radio show, going it alone and talking by himself for 2 hours (with the occasional guest - we get it) but most of the time it's Ant rambling on with 2 dudes chiming in every now and then. Who really cares about Keith the Cop turned Producer?
Opie and Jim on the other hand has hardly changed from what the show was before without Ant. Everyone's going to disagree, but really...The ignorance and Opie hate aside ...its the same show. Comedians coming in being hilarious ...The occasional boring celeb interview ..We've still got Erock and not some dull Rat kid ...Jimmy has been on fire recently with his sillyness. All you people who 'stood with Ant' were just sheep who have missed out on some great shows. Granted ..Ant is sorely missed on the show with Jimmy ...but the way most of you bang on like Tacs is some awesome thing ...c'man ..stop it

It is not the same show. Recently, I started tuning back in because the old Jimmy is coming back. Opie wasn't stepping on him, which was nice

It has the structure of the old show, yes. But it really has very little entertainment value compared to O&A. If you don't include this week, O&J has equated to listening to 2 grown men meander through a Paper Museum. Talking in circles about things they don't know, where Ant would have had an answer (whether biased or not)

I've been listening to the Podcasts (O&J vs TACS) and there is no question to who's show is better. O&J STRUGGLE to find a viable hour to push out in a 4 day work week. While Anthony has 3-5 segments that are interesting or very funny.

Anthony is clearly a better broadcaster, than Opie nowadays. It's easier to listen to Ant flow through subjects and make me laugh. Instead of Opie's high pitched yell at Erock or Sam "WHAT IS THAT?!!? (repeat repeat repeat) serious tone That's Crazzyyyy" In an interview: "AUGHH WHY WOULDN'T THEY LET YOU BE FUNNY???!" uhhhh because he was acting in a dramatic role.

TACS obviously needs work, but I think the fans are giving great advice and Anthony is open to criticism for the betterment of the show

TACS obviously needs work,

Dollar for dollar it destroys Opie and Jimmy. Can you imagine what Ant could be with the staff and corporate production budget of O&J?

Dollar for dollar? I'm not sure of what you are talking about.

You pay for SiriusXM with O&J. You also get 500 other channels along with your sub. Ant's show only gets you one show. "Dollar for dollar" would depend on your listening habits

If you are talking production value, I think they are the same (minus the video element). O&J aren't doing bits, they are reading news stories and watching YouTube videos, the same as Ant.

So Ant, with the staff and corporate production budget, would look very similar to O&J (unless it costs too much to do a "Ketchup Challenge")

Anthony just happens to be more entertaining as a broadcaster

I believe that 'dollar to dollar' is referring to the value of the talent to the company vs cost of their contracts. More specifically, I think he's saying that TACS would hypothetically produce a better product for SXM for the same amount of money, or less.

Here is the thing.

I can easily listen to Ant while I am doing my other computer stuff or cleaning my house.

But if I listen to Opie and SteamRolledJim while doing my other computer stuff or cleaning my house I feel like my ears were listening to a total waste of time , not interesting and not funny and mostly because of Opie.

Anthony isn't always the greatest but it's so much better than Opie and steamrolled Jim

And I do not regret listening to Ant (besides the fox news views) but consistently I have regretted listening to Opie and SteamRolled Jim over the past couple of months, virtually everytime it felt like a waste and I kept waiting for it not to feel like a waste to my listening ears but Opie and SteamRolled Jim feels like it used to feel when I discovered Stern Sucks too and I needed to find something better.

Which luckily the Rogan podcast took over when I discovered Stern sux.

IDK, you listen

it's just Ant doing what he was doing on O&A but without Opie shitting all over his rhythm.

Don't tell me what I like.

I haven't

No. At its best it's not that much better than the Opie & Jim show, and Opie & Jim at their best aren't that much worse.

Both shows are mediocre, floundering shows without an identity; they're not nearly as good as the Opie & Anthony show was.

Incidentally, the people who think that TACS is the greatest thing since Christmas can't be taken seriously. Their love for the show, and for Ant, has nothing to do with comedy, and everything to do with the host's social views.

Fans of Anthony (the funniest guy from the O&A show) don't actually like him because he is funny? Who woulda guessed it'll all boil down to racism... So if Opie was the same dumb unfunny guy that he is now but also threw around the word "nigger" every so often he'd be beloved? It's nothing to do with comedic value or broadcast ability? All to do with race?

Yes. At the very least these balloonheads cherish Ant's racism as much, if not more, than his talent. Everything else is subordinate. I stand by that.

I mean, it is not subtle; not at all. All you need to do is watch the pornographic zeal with which hardcore fans of his attack anyone who speaks of Ant's pigheaded racist swill in a less than approving manner. I've seen people on this subreddit (me being one of them) criticize TACS . . . which is allegedly what everyone loves . . . and not get one tenth of the outpouring of negativity you can get just from calling Ant what he is, and with nobody even going so far as to deny the truth of the charge.

Again, it is not subtle. These people don't even try to hide what it is they truly love about this guy; and if you can't see it (you can; you've never struck me as stupid), it's because you've put in the required effort it takes not to see it.

No I usually see the same people appreciate his views on race and I believe that's a minority of his fans. I think more people are motivated to tune out cause of his race rants rather than tune in. That's always the number one complaint I see about his program/his past shows on O&A. Seems like a minority (no pun intended) who look forward to his race rants.

I'm not talking about the rants, necessarily. I'm more referring to the overall, simmering disdain he evinces toward anyone with darker skin than him (which, by the way, is not difficult to achieve; I mean, this is a hardcore greaseball, and not some Aryan poster-boy we're talking about here).

Now you may be right that, ultimately, the people who love his racism more than his talent represent a minority of his fan base in total (on this sub, however, I think it's a different story). There's no way of really telling. But you cannot deny that it's an incredibly vocal minority; a minority that, as in all things, will loudly insist that they are in fact the vast majority.

Of course these comments get blasted with down votes. For shame, /r/opieandanthony

I set my watch to this one.

OH you really are an asshole. gsbird is the Joe Derosa of this subreddit.
