Oh my god I remember that. Holy fuck was that "character" awful, I cringed every time he did that.
The show sounded so different that first year they were back. The way they talked, the way they sounded, the way they delivered jokes. It was like a weird hybrid of WNEW and a TV talk show. They settled in after awhile, but anything I hear from that first year or so sticks out to me like nothing else.
Ant and Jim sold -2s out of 10s from Opie since 2005. Now the motherfucker thinks he's genuinely funny and has talked about going to the Comedy Cellar with brilliant comics like Bill Burr and Colin Quinn, sitting at their tables and just "trading some zingers and holding court."
Ant and Jim helped so much to create the delusional non-talent who sincerely says things like "I believe in my heart of hearts that I could host The Tonight Show."
Opie can't even do 2 funny hours with Jim Norton and Dan Soder in studio, for God's sake.
