Defacto confirmation on re-signing.
27 2014-09-25 by [deleted]
During a few moments after 2:38:00 Jim confirmed in his own special way that they have re-signed. 30% raise. Anthony is cool with it. He did not ask O and J to jump full time on TACS (we knew this though). Driving to L.I all the time would have been an issue (we knew this).
Edit: Also Jims vice show is going for round 2
Sal is done with the show.
Last night on TACS Anthony also said that he would go onto the SXM show in the future if he be allowed to (to promote the show). He also seemed to imply that Him and Opie werent always in step when it came to signing contracts (he said he always wanted to and Opie would hold out-didnt say it maliciously, just it would always cause him anxiety because of the uncertainty)
In the past few weeks Anthony implied that Jim has been approached to do TACS on a semi-regular(?) basis. So this might still happen ( I would speculate it would be once bi-weekly or something).

I'd confirm this myself but that requires actually listening to the show so I will take your word on this.
9 ricardo_von_nicht 2014-09-25
I had a feeling there would be something today so I turned it on for the last part.
2 HLef 2014-09-25
That part where Jimmy was doing that AC/DC analogy was hilarious. Jimmy was on fire today. He's from Crazy Town.
10 [deleted] 2014-09-25
I'm just amazed you're still listening to the show.
7 ricardo_von_nicht 2014-09-25
Since the firing I have been fascinated with how all of this would play out. So ive been following developments closely, trying to pick up on subtle things all parties have been saying, doing etc. But I stopped OandJ a while ago, only I knew that they would start dropping hints soon, so I checked in to the last part of the show today.
Now that its pretty much over, my days of calculating potential sub numbers on TACS, Jim speculation, etc are over. Back to being busy with other stuff.

can't wait to hear ant on rogan, don't give a fuck about anything else happening, the other two are sellouts to me.
9 JCP_1975 2014-09-25
Why are they sell-outs? Ant stated he wouldn't come back to SXM and that he loves doing his show. Jimmy also mentioned that Ant hasn't asked them (O&J) to join him. So, what would you like them to do that wouldn't make them sell-outs?
9 ricardo_von_nicht 2014-09-25
Ya, its a somewhat bitter pill to swallow. But it is definitely clear that Anthony wanted to go solo. Although a large part of this was because he had to start up quick while the Iron was hot, and also he had no indication what Opie was going to do (I still cant fathom how two business partners had such low levels of communication on strategic matters.)
The only thing left to see is if Jim will be an occasional guest, or with any sort of regularity.
-3 telemecanique 2014-09-25
because they never stood up to SXM when the company was clearly wrong for firing ant. For years they preached that if only the good guys stood up against special interest groups or stupid reactionary firings without real cause, when it's their turn they re-sign? Ant strikes me as genuinely nice guy, of course he wouldn't pressure them, opster on the other hand and intellectual-jimmy should be ashamed.
That's just how I see it, not that they or you should care, but it's my impression and such is life.
6 JCP_1975 2014-09-25
How do you know they didn't stand up to them behind the scenes? And did you expect them to quit, which would have reportedly costs the millions of dollars for breach of contract?
-1 telemecanique 2014-09-25
learn to read, they re-signed... as in they had a perfectly legal way of telling SXM to go fuck themselves. /end of story
I don't care how opster spins it, I'm sure it's the more comfortable thing to do, it gets them paid, but it's selling the fuck out after years of ranting against no one else standing up, trend continues...
3 JCP_1975 2014-09-25
Yeah maaaannnn.....

Way to stand behind your opinion. Defend it or don't voice it.

Well, my life is over. Time to go lay my head on train tracks while listening to their first ever show on XM.
5 867-5309- 2014-09-25
That's a lovely tribute to Lady Di's ex, the biological father of her son.
2 thesynking 2014-09-25
yes, her beloved husband.
2 alexreleases 2014-09-25
how'd it happened?!
0 867-5309- 2014-09-25
They were never married. (I'm ashamed to know that)
5 thesynking 2014-09-25
I know, O&A would always say he was her husband though.
2 drunk8gods 2014-09-25
That's right. The Church and the law does not recognize water buffaler and human unions.

Out of all this news, Anthony on Joe Rogan is the most exciting. Long overdue.
-5 CUNTYMOM 2014-09-25
i dont get the love for rogan, he seems like a good guy but he has never made me laugh and its absurd he has 3 hour podcasts, how much boring weird nutrient/science/ufc can he ramble about for that long.
the ones with bill burr were the only ones i liked.
3 ricardo_von_nicht 2014-09-25
Science is not boring. But take the guests he has on with a grain of salt. Great for stirring the mind's thoughts though. It is an acquired taste though, absolutely right.
3 boofk 2014-09-25
Sometimes hes hard for me to listen to because of his far out ideas.
1 ImIndignant 2014-09-25
I like that he usually acknowledges those ideas are unfounded or "far out". That being said, I skip ahead any time he gets into drug talk. I don't count the Freeway Rick Ross episode, that was great and makes Jimmy's interview on Vice look awful by comparison. Oh, and any Rogan show with Duncan Trussel is unlistenable.
3 tehjarvis 2014-09-25
For me, Joe Rogan's podcast is the modern Coast to Coast FM. Look at it that way and avoid podcasts with the Butter Coffee guy and UFC fighters and it can be pretty entertaining.
3 shimrra 2014-09-25
Rogan's show is more about talk than making jokes. It's good but I can only listen to his show when it's someone I am interested in.
2 dxInt 2014-09-25
I know where you're coming from. When the podcast started it was weird shit like Rogan and Duncan Trussell talking about werewolves making me laugh my ass off. But now I listen to the show exclusively based on the guests he has on. And even then it can get so repetitive I can't stick through a whole ep. Rogan and Cumia is going to be a good matchup, though.
7 breadmoccasin 2014-09-25
The idea of Ant as a guest is just really sad and would probably depress the heck out of me.
Not sad as in pathetic or anything, just sad.
5 DRIPSCBW 2014-09-25
So Sal is leaving the show? I personally could care less he contributes nothing except to be made fun of, just a little confused by throwing that into the thread, haven't listened yet today
2 islesrule224 2014-09-25
His internship ended forever ago so it was only a matter of time

God damn I hope I get to drink with Ant when he's out here.

2 Moxson4 2014-09-25
Drink with Ant where? As much as I like Ant, and used to tolerate Opie. I wouldn't walk across the street to have a drink with them.
I forget where and when it was. I think it was a couple years ago, O&A announced they were going to a bar and told the listeners ahead of time so they could come.
O&A spent the next day bitching about the fans, and how annoyed they were having to talk to them. I remember fans who went to the bar, later went to forums and said how fucking rude they were and how they made it clear that they didn't want anyone around them, and that Kenny and Keith made sure most people couldn't even say hello to them in person.
I'm perfectly happy listening to the show. I've never felt like I need to call the show and turn into a nervous nelly.
1 [deleted] 2014-09-25
I could see that, and yeah that sounds kind of heart breaking. Always bums me out to hear shit like that. I only saw them years ago at 2 events in Buffalo, and they were pretty cool/accessible. At the risk of sounding like an over-reaching douche, I'm kind of pals with Ant so it's a little different than just random strangers coming to an event. He'll probably be too busy, but it would be rad if it happened.
1 shimrra 2014-09-25
I'm surprised by this only cause the few times I was lucky to meet them at a bar they were real cool to talk to. I was even lucky enough to take some pics of Ant with a "lady" he was with. If I can find the pics I'll post them.

Very cute! God, I always Hated Ants Molestache.
1 ByteNow 2014-09-25
Played a few hands of low-level blackjack with Ant after Jimmy's last show at the Borgata in Atlantic City. Dude couldn't have been nicer. Most O&A fans are unintelligent fuckwits. If you at least appear to be intelligent and genuine, Ant has no problem giving you the time of day.
0 Moxson4 2014-09-25
Are you a cute girl? Because that would explain it. I'm sure you're right. I guess I can put myself in O&A's position for a minute. I'm sure the majority of the guys probably panic, and act EXTREME!!!! To impress the guys, thinking that's what the want to see.
3 WhiskeynPeanutbutter 2014-09-25
i dont listen to O&J anymore, but what happened with Sal? Was it something on air?
5 ricardo_von_nicht 2014-09-25
no details mentioned. Just he is moving on to another job. It explains the job notices.
4 Holzmann 2014-09-25
He wanted something less embarrassing, so he moved on to being the servile white cuck in interracial porn.
3 Ptone79 2014-09-25
It would be nice if one of them was actually clear about coming back, Maybe tomorrow, oh wait...
3 ucfgavin 2014-09-25
I'm happy that Jim stayed, he deserved it, and the raise.
2 alexreleases 2014-09-25
Did Opie say anything about a raise or was it just Jimmy?
8 gsbird1065 2014-09-25
I doubt if SiriusXM would be giving Opie a raise.
Empty gestures like naming the channel Opie Radio? Yes. A raise? Uh-uh.
7 streetkingz 2014-09-25
Probably got a raise, they are saving a lot of money not having a third chair (especially ant, he was payed very well), but sure you haters got try and find a silver lining somewhere so lets just say he didnt get a raise :)
Im sure not having to pay ant more than makes up for the loss in listeners / subs after he left. Sirius probably came out the best in all of this, i doubt they lost 3 mill a year in subs from anthony leaving or anything even close to that.
Edit: Ant came out very well in all of this as well, considering the situation they put him in. I dont sub to TACS anymore but id be curious to know if his numbers have been steady, the first few days everyone was reporting the numbers of views from the view counter for his show. What does the average show say on a Tuesday get in terms of viewers for ant now.
3 ricardo_von_nicht 2014-09-25
It wasnt 3 mill first of all. To your point about loss of sub revenue, I suspect you are right. Loss of subs probably was more than offset by loss of Anthonys contract
But Opie would be a fool if he didnt mandate that SXM must increase the budget for the show on this new contract. I suspect that he did.
2 gsbird1065 2014-09-25
The losses were marginal at best.
2 alexreleases 2014-09-25
That's what I was thinking, I'm just surprised they gave Jimmy a 30% raise. I almost got scared there for a minute lol
By the way I was asking if Opie said anything, not for you to speculate, there's enough of that ;)
5 ricardo_von_nicht 2014-09-25
Jim.

1 PrettyPartizan 2014-09-25
Looking forward to the Joe Rogan show with Ant.
0 wizardnug 2014-09-25
Speculation or actual statement?
3 ricardo_von_nicht 2014-09-25
It was done in a cheeky way but it was a statement.
-1 holden190 2014-09-25
Details, please. You're being vague.
0 ricardo_von_nicht 2014-09-25
what can I say? It was just cheeky, but it was clear what he was alluding to. Just listen to it when it comes out in the next hour or so. Its the last 45min (for a few minutes), and then go right to the end about the Sal stuff (it was brief)
0 FaroutIGE 2014-09-25
Biggest horse shit of all of this. "wahhh I don't wanna do what Ant did for decades". Sad to say it but Ope is getting just desserts for taking the easy check.
5 opieanthonyjim 2014-09-25
Driving to LI between 1pm and 3 pm is WAY worse than driving into Manhattan between 5-6ish AM. Way worse . I swear, rush hour starts here at like noon.
1 FaroutIGE 2014-09-25
and I guarantee that if Ope even entertained the possibility of coming out, the time would have easily changed to accommodate him.
5 ricardo_von_nicht 2014-09-25
It really has become clear Anthony wanted to go solo after what happened (if it didnt happen he would have re-signed). He has been fairly on point about this.
1 CowsAreCurious 2014-09-25
He even said it on here just the other day:
0 ricardo_von_nicht 2014-09-25
Ya, I read that post before and it I dont understand his meaning. The way he worded it is weird.
1 dishpitdesign 2014-09-25
Why exactly should Opie have to drive out of the city because Anthony did something stupid and got himself fired?
I love that Anthony gets zero blame for this whole thing.

funny how Opie bashed Stern for saying he would quit if Robin was fired. He was like "that fucking liar would never leave, he's too full of himself and doesn't care about other people." Now who's never leaving you hypocrite.
