SiriusXM may actually be renaming the *channel* 'Opie Radio' . . .

I don't think it's just the show.

If you look at SiriusXM's Careers Center page (https://careers-siriusxm.icims.com/jobs/search?pr=0&searchKeyword=board%20operator), you'll notice that every employment opportunity is specified by channel, not by individual show; and since the Board Op listing is for 'Opie Radio' . . . it's kinda obvious.

Which begs the question. Could SiriusXM have been so desperate to keep him on that they actually committed to his ridiculous 'Opie Radio' brand to this degree?

And I posted that thread. But that was to point out that Opie had re-signed; this is to point out that it seems like they're actually going to re-name the channel (not just the show) 'Opie Radio'.

Re-read your post from earlier where you mention the renaming of the show to opieradio.

Naming the channel OpieRadio is such a tin star badge move. They absolutely will not be giving him more money and likely gave him a paycut so SXM is doing all of these trivial things for Opie instead of forking out cash. Channel re-name, cutting hours, fewer contractually obligated days, Fridays off and more vacation for Daddy Opie, and halving the fucking pay. That is what I think happened.

Agreed.

They Howard Stern'd him. Hoo hoo.

My kid climbed into an elevator and started pressing buttons, Robyn!

Fuck Opie. Talentless hack.

More likely it was just part of the contract. I doubt Sirius is desperate to keep him at all. Naming the channel means nothing, because it's guaranteed they won't promote it at all, in favor of Howard.

As long as Howard is at Sirius, Opie will never get a break.

Mothafuckin bots are back.

That's cute.

I am sure they will have tons of listeners.

They just need another channel to air credit counseling and dildo commercials on.

We get that it's a radio show, why did he have to put radio in the name of the channel?

It's worse than that. Opie could have wanted to name it anything, but that doesn't mean SiriusXM was in any way bound to go along with it. Naming the channel is their decision, not his.

In Opiespeak, this means they're all in

Maybe he's going to be a PD?

Ah. Thanks for that. I feel slightly better now!

(you should start an individual thread, since this is the first indication that Jim has re-signed as well)
