I don't even disagree with a lot of the stuff Thermite posts. I just have no idea why he fights a losing battle to try to convince people here that Opie isn't actually the worst thing ever... just accept it man. I'm sure as shit not going to try to convince people here that Opie has any value on the radio... mostly because there isn't much evidence to support that argument.

I don't think the fans care if the hosts like them or not, it's all about how entertaining the show is, and Anthony is pretty much the most entertaining guy ever on radio.

He stinks. He thinks the show made up all kinds of internet humor, he takes callers, he's a douche, not funny, I truly believe he honestly likes Santana, the way he says cool sucks, I hate it when he says dope, hes just this boring, generic vanilla guy who got lucky enough to be associated with a bunch of actually funny people.

It's his neediness what's cringe inducing and unwarranted.

This might shock you so get ready but you don't have to like someone because they are a suck up sycophant. There is nothing more I like then to see Ant mock a terrible call on his show and see no value in Opie giving a fan who just says how awesome he is time.

That said I wish Ant would humor the fugitive caller on his show once instead of instant hanging up on him.

To me, Opie genuinely likes the fans. I think it showed in that Jerry call by how hurt he sounded but then he just put up his defense mechanism and tried to argue his way out of it.

If he really liked his fans he would listen to their criticisms instead of just flat out mocking them and ignoring them. It seems like Ant is at least doing that since he said he is trying to talk about race less on his show.

But Ant didn't take people's criticism well when he was on OANDA. He has to now, because the fans are paying his salary. When he was getting paid millions he had no care what anybody said and let them know it.

Well that could be true. It could also be that Opie the ship steerer decreed that fans opinions were not worth listening too. Don't forget, Ant has stopped doing on his own show some of the stuff Opie did meaning they might not have always seen eye to eye. He hangs up on Lady Di for example every time so it isn't really clear if this was the case.

Anyway my original point was I don't value Ant because he will treat me with respect because if I am a dumb caller I should get attacked. He had Jonathan Stewart come to his house for a party and he did not have to do that at all which was kind of nice of him but Stewart was also pretty interesting to talk to. If Stewart sucked on the mic I would not have been surprised if he didn't get the invite.

I think he cares what they say about him but I wouldn't say he LIKES the fans as such.

Before Ant got fired I really did like all 3 of the boys for various reasons. Opie's shitty bare minimum support of Ant made me dislike him. And after the first few weeks the show quality decreased drastically.

If Opie would supported Ant as much as Jimmy has then things would be much better for him.

Anthony has fans over to his house. What other famous personality would do that?

I am not an Opie defender, but I am no hater either. The only time I really get annoyed with him is when he repeats a joke and says he got beat to it, or tells someone he understands a joke, or says things like you want to go...lets go, or tells somebody they don't really want to go there, or talks about his kids, or makes up stories, or steamrolls something funny to read some lame joke a fan sends in that nobody laughs at
