I'm starting to regret not cancelling. It's been almost a half hour of listening to this slob shittily sing the same line over and over while Di screams in the background. Holy hell. There's a difference between "annoying funny" and just flat out awful.
I gladly canceled, I listen from time to time for free via torrent now. My sub lasted up to 2 weeks ago and I would check in here and there up till then. Now books on tape make me more happy. Got caught up with Mistborn trilogy and Elantris. Much better than what I was listening to. Sorry Opester but you're a shit and I can't stand you.
No regrets. They cut the hours of both O&A and R&F. They moved R&F to a channel that prevents time-shifting. And O&A started regularly working 4 days a week.
Setting aside the quality of the shows since Ant left, expecting listeners to pay the same price for waaay less content and fewer features over how they listen?
Canceled then went back to multiple email addresses for one month "trials" for the phone app. Also, my new car came with SXM enabled free for three months, definitely not going to pay after that period. Best bit so far was Jimmy's "Ernie Hudson" calling Lady Di a rotten bitch, etc.
Nope, i was sitting in my wife's car while she was in a store a couple weeks back and being curious I switched over to XM (she has free trail with the new car) and heard Sam's laugh (replay of after show) and that was enough for me. No regrets at all, I have Ant's show which i love, R&F when it doesn't suck, and enough podcasts to never miss that show.
I called and cancelled the day Ant announced he'd been fired. I know of a few sites to get the show for free, but after about 2 weeks I had to tap out. I regret nothing. It became unlistenable.
I didn't have any regrets but I just got a car with a three month subscription to Sirius that includes the XM stations. I will let the trial expire but will regret not having all of the NFL games. It is nice being able to find all of the sports in one place. As for 206, I think I have only switched to it once. I'll listen to them in other ways from my office for background noise sometimes but that's getting less frequent.
After reading this sub everyday, hell no, no regrets. The show appears to be worse than I ever thought it would be. Poor Jimmy, I always hated the O&J shows from the past when Ant was out. They were dry and serious and too much Opie life stories. Seems like that hasn't changed a bit.
One of you nailed it a couple weeks ago when you said; the death of the show was when they incorporated YouTube and Twitter into the show.
They knew listeners didn't want them to
Watch an hour long video
On the air; but they did it anyway.
I cancelled 2 cars and one internet account. Due to internal complaining, I was forced so sign one car back up, however it is just the basic music package. Not the PREMIUM package where the O & J show resides.
No. Bought an ipod classic. Download the Maron WTF podcast and other such stuff. SXM has seen its last dollar from me. The perceived advantages of satellite are not worth the $.
I feel bad canceling. But I rarely tune in. It's so unlistenable. Completely different show. If this was what I had heard when I discovered O&A I never would have listened again.
sam + dopie is the reason i stopped listening... they have this sickening onair relationship where they reaffirm each other's faggotry and lack of talent
when sammy started repeating opies mantra of calling all criticism of the show 'haters' i was fucking done
Pre-Ant's firing the show had become really stagnant, dull and just not very good radio. The exceptions were becoming few and very far in between.
Post-Ant's firing, with the exception of a few shows in the first couple of weeks, it's been bad, boring and annoying radio. This "new" Opie Radio Show is just not good, period.
I was previously paying for regular Sirius before, but not extra for the show. I like to listen on my phone, and the last time I checked they wanted me to pay for Sirius + an XL channel + $20 extra on top of that a month to listen on the phone app. Essentially, to listen to ONE station on my phone, that would quadruple my current bill. No thanks. The show had gotten stale and after the firing I cancelled, not so much to stand with Ant, but just because Sirius makes extremely poor decisions that affect the end user, and I was tired of helping perpetuate that. I can find any of those music stations (and anything talk on SXM) online to stream if I so choose. I checked out a recent show and it stinks. I feel bad for Jimmy, but both the show and the company disregard any feedback their fans / customers give them. At least Ant has listened to feedback and adapted.
i cancelled a couple weeks back after giving the interim show a fair chance. when asked, i cited that the specific reason was due to the firing of anthony cumia, and that the show with opie at the helm was un-listenable.
now, fucking sirius calls me twice a day, every day monday-saturday. called me last night at 8:05. it's fucking annoying.
Should have done it sooner, but hoped the show would still be good.
Instead I get 4 days of mediocre radio and "best ofs" featuring mediocre radio from last month.
At least on H100/101 I can hear him in his glory days rather than the dried up shell he is now.
Either way, it isn't worth it anymore. I'd much rather listen to a heavy metal feed on a radio app than hear that dork Jose Mangin or tool Keith Roth chime in between songs.
I was a subscriber and I would also download the show to listen while at work. Cancelled the day Ant said he was fired. Once the show came back from vacation, I dl'd it for a couple of days to hear Opie and Jim's thoughts on the firing, and stopped downloading it since then.
Sirius has called to try to get me to sign back up and I told them I would not, even if it was free.
After 10 years, I cancelled in Feb. 2014. The show was on a downward slump then. Hearing what the show has become post Ant, I have no regrets cancelling. The show truly has passed me by.
Mines still workin. There was a free play recently and it just keeps on tickin. I've dipped in and out of the show, thinking there would be something I may like. I just keep flipping to Covina and rich, their channel seems to have a lil more bandwidth here lately...and fuckin Howard's channels. I've heard Jackie a lot this week and some older bits which is nice. The show I loved is just gone and btw you know the show is bad when you are relieved to hear stern. Ugh
I was online-only for a few years, but THE MONTH of the 20th anniversary I actually bought a car and home kit (hoping the signal would be better, it wasn't, but the interface was easier to use than fumbling with my phone). I got the home kit the fucking DAY OF the 20th party and tuned in live over satellite. I was fucking RIPSHIT when they fired Ant. I immediately canceled. I still tune in once in awhile, my gf's dad gave us his online login, but I haven't made it through a full show since the week of his firing. It's just hard to listen to some days.
I cancelled after 7/4. My productivity has gone up 10X. I wish I would have done it sooner. Plus the show just isn't the same without Ant... all my favorite memories of the show involve Anthony. I'd like to sign up for Anthony's show, but I just don't have any time to listen.
started with a month to month for TACS.. just upgraded to a full year subscription. Anthony is just a better show.
Stopped my subs with this garbage. I will never go back.. nothing worth listening too.. I would say R&F but that show isn't the same either... ever since dave (and fez) left
I love all the people that brag about not listening. You don't listen to the show, but you will participate in the subreddit? You're still a fan, you just want attention.
Actually, nobody listens anymore, because the O&A Show is dead, there's a subreddit for whatever they call this new show though.
And I just asked a question. I wanna know if anybody who knee-jerk cancelled after Ant's firing regretted it. I don't see how you completely miss that.

My only regret is I didn't do it sooner.

Not many people here pay for a subscription to SXM.
12 [deleted] 2014-09-17
I stopped paying in 2011. I don't even download for free anymore. In fact I don't think you could pay me to listen.

Why you here, hater?

Dammit. I knew this day would come, but not so soon!

Then Go. The show isn't clearly for you anymore. It's passed you by. Go listen to Ant's show then.
2 CowsAreCurious 2014-09-17
Unlike you, I actually paid for the show for 9 years. Why don't you go?

Did you typically stare at your radio on a daily basis?

I thought that's what all the kids were doing these days. Thought I was hip and down with, but I guess I'm just in my late twenties.

I gave them an extra 3 weeks hoping things would settle. My only regret would have been not hearing my reddit name.

Nope just went onto Ant's show and it's been great. Also came across davey mac sports and weird medicine to fill the void on Fridays.
3 ad0rable 2014-09-17
weird... mopey has spent so much time whining for the 'haters' to stop listening and find another show or podcast......... so eventually i did
2 mikelp1973 2014-09-17
I agree. There's plenty out there you just have to seek it out these days instead of having it delivered. It's better that way sometimes.

Not me. Gladly paying for Ant's show and not paying to occasionally listen to the train wreck that's left on Sirius.
I know it's unlikely, but I'd pay more if Jimmy goes to Ant's show where he actually has feedback and isn't afraid to be funny.
