Did Opie drop a hint when Ms pat was on?

He said something along the lines of... "I guess we're going to be a here a while so I better start doing research for guests."

Opie figured it out. Sirius loves shitty radio. So he getting paid to half ass and irritate everyone.

If siriusxm will fire Anthony for and incident and comments made off the radio then why wouldn't they fire Opie and Jimmy for something they said on the radio? Literally sxm has strangled Opie and Jimmy content wise and that's why you're getting such a vanilla show with no edge. Just like the suits did you free fm they're doing at sxm and it's ruining shows. I'd say the type of show there doing is a direct result of the type of pressure the suits put on them. Opie and Jimmy are playing it safe and they really don't have an option.

Is there any question that they're going to re-sign?
Opie has convinced himself that he's making great radio, and it's a cushy job with probably a bigger pay-check since he's carrying more of the show now. They have a whole channel devoted to reading books out-loud. I'm sure Sirius is thrilled it's lost its edginess and that they don't need to listen to his faux complaints about the studio and the management anymore.

For me, it is not a question of whether or not they will re-sign, it is whether or not SXM will make them an offer.

There's never been any question in my mind about it but I don't know why he's making such a big dea... oh wait, I forgot who I was talking about.

There is no way he'd get a cut of Anthony's paycheck. if that's what you were implying.

Opie re-upped. The show is awful with its intelligent and sincere discussion of the news crap.
Opie wants to do "smart" radio because he doesn't think he's funny enough to do funny radio. Well, he's right about that, but he's just as dumb as he is unfunny. He won't be able to make NPR with Dick Jokes work. Opie is no intellectual. Have you ever heard him try to read?
Ep Uh Tome.

I read better in the kindergarten Christmas play. Pretty sure he has brain damage.

Everytime I hear that I replay the Shia lebeouf embarrassment in my head.
4 ClydeFlower 2014-09-17
Less of a commentary on LeBeouf, more of a commentary on hippie parents, LA public schools, Yale admissions, and Hollywood vapidity. He tried to improve himself by learning words, but had no one around for miles to guide his pronunciation.
5 Buzz_Killington_III 2014-09-17
Yup I just figure he read it in a magazine about some else and said 'Good line, I'm going to use that.'
5 jakdak 2014-09-17
I don't think that's it- Opie changed once he got married and had kids. He stopped most of his "Opie the Destroyer" stuff years ago. That was always his bit- if he couldn't be "funny" he could at least be inappropriate or shocking.
Now he's just a middling morning zoo jock. Probably no worse that half the other talk jocks on morning radio but not necessarily anything I want to pay money to hear.

I'm kind of looking forward to the shittiness and decay. In about a year they'll have the Bro Bible and Tucker Max in for serious interviews.

I still have faith in Opie's ability to gather relevant material:

Spot on.
1 Moxson4 2014-09-17
I've always said the Opie tries to force the Evil Opie character, because he has nothing else. He's not a comic like Jimmy; he's not extremely intelligent, and knowledgable on every subject, and hilarious like Anthony.
He can't be a smart, political pundit, like Ant; and he can't tell cool, funny sex stories like Jim. His only sex story involves plastering the lyrics to Hold Me Now on his wall, while his GF is banging another guy.

OHHHHHH EEEEE ROCKKKKK!!!!!!

So sad. If they really re-signed, I get it- they need the money but holy shit... Fuck SiriusXM
6 Drunken_Wizard23 2014-09-17
He also let it slip last week when he went off on that caller and said "The company loves me, and it'll be proven when I re-sign."
5 AntsCamera 2014-09-17
He can be there as long as he wants, no one will hear him.
3 Hard_Fiskur 2014-09-17
When Opie speak in the studio, and no one is listening, does he make a sound?
6 CUNTYMOM 2014-09-17
yeah a sniff
3 BeerCanThick 2014-09-17
In all fairness, that might be Jim Norton.

Who the fuck is "Ms Pat?" Is she any good? I've never heard of this broad, but in the last month she's been on almost every single podcast I listen to, and now this show too.
4 blindkeller 2014-09-17
I never heard of her before yesterday.
2 WiretapStudios 2014-09-17
She's pretty fucking funny, and I'd definitely hang out with her. She reminds me of a lot of the black chicks I've worked with at various jobs, so that might be part of why I like her. She is like Patrice in that she mostly doesn't give a fuck if what she says is offensive (but in a funny way), and has an interesting back story. She was decent on Attell's most recent comedy show, but I think she's funnier on the podcasts that I've heard than her stand up. I haven't seen a full set from her though, only the Attell thing.
1 [deleted] 2014-09-17
Alright, I'm sold. I'll check her out.
1 WiretapStudios 2014-09-17
It might not be everyone's thing, but I heard her on Ari's podcast and then on Bertcast, and Bert was crying laughing the whole time.
1 occult91 2014-09-17
her on this episode was really not too great, i liked her interview on "your moms house podcast" but yea she is pretty funny, she used to sell crack making 10 thousand a day, got arrested and now does comedy
1 [deleted] 2014-09-17
I'll give her a listen on Rogan's. Tanks.
1 devil2king 2014-09-17
Id recommend her on The Crabfeast podcast, its probably the funniest of her podcast appearances. IMO
0 [deleted] 2014-09-17
I fucking can't stand the Crabfeast. Those guys stink. I've seen them both do stand up too, they're about as funny as a bottle of milk. Jay Larson & that other fuck? Pee yew.
3 wp9215 2014-09-17
pretty sure he said "we might be here a while"
3 fuckjeah 2014-09-17
He definitely re-signed. His twitter description says it all:
3 FJaxJones 2014-09-17
Er, I don't see how that's an indicator of anything?
1 fuckjeah 2014-09-17
Opie and Anthony was a brand he build and owned half of. It indicates the brand isn't in hiatus because of existing contracts, it might show he thinks there is more potential for earnings in the SIrius boat than the OnA boat, so he's willing to rebrand, renegotiate and is now Opie from SiriusXM, not to be confused with Opie from that show that died in 2014.
At least that's what I read into it.
0 Jean_Lafitte 2014-09-17
I don't read that... Regardless of if Opie re-signs or not, the Opie & Anthony show sun has already set in 2014. That show is gone. Opie from SiriusXM is simply who he is and who he works for.
3 shimrra 2014-09-17
Would it be something if Sirius finally move them to a studio they have been asking for all this time?
Sirius is going to throw enough money and Jim is going to pipe up that he wants more since he is moving into second chair. But if Jim takes the offer and the show officially is called O&J will he cut back on his comedy career?
1 gsbird1065 2014-09-17
He would have to; unless they officially went to a 4 day per week schedule.
1 shimrra 2014-09-17
Having a kid must also be on his mind, he should think about moving out of the city.
2 astrozombie222 2014-09-17
No cares ever if Opie gets a new contract.
I have some weird sense of betrayal though if Jimmy does...

Happy for Opie and Jim. Now this awful subreddit can be shut down and you can all commence with your lives. Don't be like those sad stern fans who go to stern specific message boards and talk about how much they've hated the show for the past decade. It's done.
2 WilliamTellAll 2014-09-17
said the guy who hits up /r/squaredcircle to complain about the WWE...
