If I hear Jim say "lateral move" again...

I agree with Jim about Apple but god damn, stop repeating the same exact phrase.

Instead he should say "sideward step" in his Craig Schinkel voice.
Schinkel 'bout it.

Haven't heard today's show, but ironically, the term "boots on the ground" on all the news broadcasts today regarding ISIS was equally enraging.

Anthony has been ranting about that phrase on TACS. Just another reason to subscribe.

I want to hear his opinion on privacy, and celebrities. I don't think he's ever mentioned that.

What does he mean by "lateral move"?
2 schmoegreene 2014-09-17
Well if you really wanna know... I think it means that their product is no longer more advanced than their competitors' products, and that they are trying to maintain their market share instead of expanding.
When the iPod, iPhone, or iPad came out, they were expansionary moves because Apple was breaking into new markets. Since Steve Jobs died, public opinion is that they are less creative and more interested in maintaining the status quo. So, for example, the new iPhone release is a "lateral move" because they are just adding features to keep up with their competition.
Sorry for such a long, boring response in a thread full of jokes. I should be executed by ISIS.

I'm sure you never repeat the same phrase ever.
