A final plea to those of you still listening, give it up. The show is over...

In the phone call with Jerry today, there were many points brought up. While Opie was indeed a giant douche with the way he screamed over any point the guy had to make to insert logical fallacies, Opie was very right about one thing: If you are not liking it, which almost all of us here are not, don't listen.

It's not like the last month has been on and off. If OnA had an off day, I returned the next day expecting it to get back to the same quality it had been producing for some time. That is not the case anymore. When it is only Opie and Jim, they are attempting to go with serious discussion with men who are very ill-informed on many topics, yet speak with utter certainty on all of them. Only when a guest comes in do they go for humorous discussions. However, there is a big difference from OnA to what it is now.

Opie is attempting to play the 3rd mic that Anthony used to play in comedic discussions when a comic guest is in. It's not working, but Opie is not willing to accept that he is not that guy, nor will he ever be. He is 51 years old with kids, a wife, and a bunch of money in the bank. He does not get involved in any situation that can provide material to the show, nor is he looking to improve in any aspect regarding the quality of the show. Opie was this guy when Anthony was around, he just did not have to show this side because the chemistry of Jimmy and Ant was much more entertaining than anything he had to offer. With that element gone, Opie HAS to contribute, and this is what he has had to offer all along. Ketchup bits, more music discussion, etc. “Harvesting human vomit” type comments...

Even Opie was quick to admit that the chemistry is not there with Jimmy, and if it has not developed over the (10?) years they have been on a show together, it's not going to happen. Opie is not ever going to be Anthony, nor will he change what he is at this point in his life. Even if they do renew the contract before October, nothing on the show is going to change. There is no one they can bring in as a 3rd mic on a full time basis that is qualified/entertaining/able to do the schedule/willing to accept the absolute dog shit pay the company would offer. Also, it appears the company is making no attempt to aid in helping the show make up for what is lost.

Why have I been listening for the last month? The only reason for me is Jimmy. I love listening to him in a laid back radio environment with others that play off his humor. Not to mention the guests he brings in are often times very funny in their own right. However, Jimmy can't do it all by himself. He can't sit there and have a conversation with himself for 3 hours a day; he needs someone to go back and forth with. The very talented guests that come on the show have made it more frequent over the past month or 2(as they most likely understood the situation and wanted to help out IMO), but it is going to become far less frequent as time goes on.

It's not worth it to continue to get frustrated and angry listening to something you don't enjoy anymore because you used to. I know OnA fans are a little masochistic, but you can't torture yourself day after day hoping something goes back to what it used to be that is unlikely to change at all. How many times can you wake up disappointed before you begin to get tired of it? Everything has to come to an end, and I think the show is finally over.

So what now? If you haven't yet, subscribe to Ant's show. It has been incredible, and well worth the 7 dollars a month. You don't have to listen on the radio, there is video feed, you can watch/listen to archived episodes, and you can even download the shows very easily to your phone! It also allows you to drop your SiriusXM subscription, unless you listen to Ron and Fez or some other program(probably not).

Can you put up a TL;DR?

Pretty sure the title summed it up, but who reads those things anyway.

TLDR: fuck Opie

Yeah, I thought the same thing right after I posted that.

NOTHING IS OVER! I'M GOING THE DISTANCE!

The last episode I listened to was the one with Kevin Pollack. It was okay.

Why would I read this? Condense your point for fuck sake.

Why are you making a 6 paragraph "final plea" for us to stop listening to a talk radio show

How seriously do you take this shit

You kind of sound like an embarrassing fag OP

Go take a walk outside or something

Says the guy who is also reading an internet forum about a radio show. Pot calling the kettle black faggot

By that definition anyone who browses the internet is an obsessed fag who writes a 12 paragraph "final plea" for listeners to stop listening to O&J

Face it, you're an embarrassing fag and you accidentally made that known here

FYP: Not accidental
