I think it would only amplify the hate. Opie deals with the criticism like an idiot. If he knew how to react it would stop.

I'm not sure it would. I know in my case the realization I don't want to face underneath any hate that I've spewed lately is that it's just over. Opie used to be funny. I don't know if steering away from shock took him out of a place where he could be funny, or if his completely healthy decision to be a less negative person killed it, but one way or another the body is lying on the floor where everyone can see.

TACS is the best thing that's left of the show I used to listen to daily, and it has a lot of growing to do before even that'll be "good enough".

I have a theory that Opie reads this sub fairly often. Reddit is one of the bigger sites, and even though we all shit on Opie; I think he couldn't resist reading our opinions. If any of you had a hate page about you; you would be pissed, but curiosity would get the best of you.

If Opie did an AMA and honestly responded to criticism, this sub would change in a heartbeat. All people need is a little humility out of him. Some admission that he knows he's a douche. But, based on how fragile he's become and how vicious his fans are now, I don't think he'll ever do it. He's doesn't even mod his own subreddit in fear that it will provoke even more hate.
