O&A was supposedly a brutally honest show. It attracted a brutally honest audience, but when we're brutally honest about HIM suddenly we're just "haters." He can dish it out but he can't take it, and that just makes the situation worse for him. He's terrible.

The interesting thing about Ant is, everyone mentioned they didn't need long racial tirades on the new show, and they are absent from the new show. Since he popped on here recently, it seems like Ant takes into account critical / constructive feedback, and it's working in his favor.

Yeah Opie's the guy who tells everyone on twitter and the show that he blocks any "haters," who he totally discounts solely as people with an agenda against him and therefore without any valid feedback for the show. I barely care about Opie's twitter, but being blocked would be a little annoying, and for that reason would refrain from letting him know just how retarded it was having lady Di and Roland's movie reviews when Atell and Sherrod Small were on.

The obsession with Twitter has been one of the worst parts of the show. Twitter is good for plugging gigs, spreading news, etc. Crying about blocking people and haters was some of the most boring radio of all time. Nobody gives a shit and it sounds like teenage drama queens babbling.

This is why Ant's show has a chance to last as long as he sees fit to do it. He'll listen to criticism and will be able to adapt to whatever the audience wants. Providing the audience isn't demanding prank calls, or fun bits I would hope.

For the last 20 years, he convinced himself that he is the reason the show was popular and profitable. When Anthony got fired, he probably saw it as a speed bump - but, knowing he was the reason the show was great, saw it as no big deal.

But now the criticisms are coming in more often. His skills are under the microscope and his lack of humor is glaring. It has to absolutely kill him that Anthony the tinknocker from Islip is on the rise after leaving the show while Opie is left wondering why people don't get how funny his bait and switch youtube videos are.

It won't be long before Opie goes nuts and starts mother-hucking (ewwww) everyone, including Anthony.

You have the situation wrong. 90 percent of the twitter and youtube response is negative. Opie has systematically deleted critical comments and banned people to create a validating army of ballwashers.

Opie thought he "knew funny" the best and knew radio the best and thought he was the most important part of the show even though he's been a viral video obsessed idiot who doesn't care about the show and has been carried for at least 5 years.

The fanbase can't turn on him because he doesn't really have one. Ant and Jim have fan bases. Hell, Erock and even Sam have fanbases. Opie has a couple hundred carefully vetted ass suckers on the internet and that is it.

Opie should have prepared for this long ago. Anthony sure did with TACS and Jimmy is supplementing his successful stand up career with t.v. appearances and the Vice show.

How many times has Opie been suspended or fired in his career? Did he see himself working at SXM in his 60s and 70s? Did he think the place had even another 5 years left in it, much less 10 or 20?

You can't make millions off a hateful, angry, "real" radio show, backed by an army of angry neckbeards and Regular Joes who like people making fun of each other, and blame them for noticing you're shit.

Opie's flaws were hidden? He's been killing the funny for years on O&A. Ant and Jimmy are so good that the show still succeeded despite Opie. He's been agonizingly awful ever since he's gotten married. He drives every conversation toward himself and cuts into great back and forth dialogue to take a shitty caller. He obviously hates the fact that he never makes anyone laugh, and if he gets even the slightest chuckle he'll beat the same line into the ground 40 times.

Opie is not funny, his whole career was due to giving Anthony an opening on radio. He took it personal years ago when he was called a glorified board op, that's all he fucking is till this day.

Opie would NEVER do that. But it's exactly the sort of thing I'd do if I had a show because it's the kind of thing I think the audience would love.

This would be easily the best move they could make. Acknowledge the incompetence and make fun of it mercilessly. It's great radio and would humanize an otherwise delusional Ope.

Common sense would have to tell you that for all these years, he's HAD to have a vastly larger number of people that liked him than didn't like him. But this almost terminally insecure child obsessively focused on the minority of people that criticized him, which only fueled them, and enraged people like me that liked him, or at the least didn't hate him. He brought this on himself.

I remember this episode of Ron & Fez maybe a year or more ago, Ronnie was in jury duty. He came in on a day off, and at the start of the show gave this 5 minute or so pre-amble about how nice it is to have an audience, to be able to do radio and express his thoughts to vast amounts of people, and how much he appreciated his listeners. It was so endearing and heartfelt, Im like "This is why Ronnie is a fucking champ." When has ungrateful baby boy ever done that.

Not my problem, it's his job to step up his game, that's what he gets paid for.
