My take on Opie

Opie has done a lot of good for the comedy community. He practically discovered Norton and Ant, and he had the good sense to put them on the air as regulars, as well as Burr and Louis and Patrice and every other dirtbag comic we hold near and dear.
That being said, he's a mere catalyst. A blank producer in which funny people come on and use his air time to enlighten and brighten the day of thousands. Opie has a great mind for radio, he might even be brilliant when it comes to noticing talent and dictating a show. But that's it. He's a radio producer, with a somewhat ripe personality, yet nothing in comparison with anyone else on the show.
Opie's not a comic or a brilliant mind like Anthony, so let's acknowledge it and move on. I'm getting sick of the redundant hatred. We all know Opie isn't very talented on the microphone, so let's get over it.

Practically discovered Ant...Known by Stern and on his show. Practically discovered Norton...Known in a comedy circle, known by Andrew Dice Clay and Colin Quinn.
All the comics came for Jim and stayed for Ant. Opie was a burden to be tolerated, the ugly chick to be humored so the comics could bang her two good looking friends.
He's not a catalyst. He's such a conversation squasher and flow wrecker. How this screaming boob ever got the title of "captain of the ship" mystifies me and was very nearly accepted as fact by a distressing number of the fans.
He has NO MIND for radio. Retard radio, Rock Scream Tuesday, the same 5 assholes getting on air 3 times a day (SNOWWWAY! LARRRAY!) Google Bombs and Viral Videos are his idea of a good time. He's an absolute fucking zero who has never progressed beyond a Brother Wease early 90s record spinner and Morning Zoo Douche Crew level despite 20 years in the business surrounded by stellar talent. 20 years of Ant, Jim, Burr, Patrice, Gervais, CK, Oswalt, Bobby, Vos, Quinn, Jeffries and 30 others didn't even begin to rub off.

Nothing worse than conventional wisdom. But what do you expect from the people who actually claim shows without Opie are horrible and don't run smoothly, when you can provide evidence of that by typing in "NOpie" into a search engine and listen to what is usually ALWAYS really good, fun, interesting radio. The evidence is RIGHT there and they still throw out the bullshit claims about Opies value to the show. He has no value. The past decade he's been nothing but a burden...

I just have to go with the old, stop listening, and stop dedicating so much time talking about him. You hate him, and he's 50% of the show. I agree with some of your crtiques. Half the time I roll my eyes but it sounds like you are punching your steering wheel and screaming racist epithats every time it goes down.

I feel like I put so much time into the show, might as well talk about it as it dies. I'm spending much more time listening to Youtube shows, podcasts, Ron and Fez and TACS to a point where I barely listen to the Opie and Jim Show.

That's fine. Although I can't imagine someone liking R&F more then even the recent incarnation of O&J. but hey thats your opinion right? I'd much rather listen to Opie for a whole week then fucking Gurian for 3 minutes, thats for sure

Well it's just a little push back to the constant hate being posted on here. It's annoying and ruining this sub. Theres even people so pathetic on here that they created usernames based on Opie and bashing him. How fucking pathetic is that, right?
