You mean when Sirius decides to leave Opie.

Sir, there are limits.

There's not many Opie apologists anymore, but I'd like to hear any of them give a reason to listen to any Opie show other than him having the luxury of Jim Norton, the Sirius building and booking power, and various comedians ie Vos, etc.
Him doing a podcast where he IS the content? Ahahahahaha. Nobody, nobody would sub to that. And he fucking knows it.

I hope Opie puts some of that "fuck you money to good use". I think he will, he has investments, he will retire most likely. Probably buy a huge farm in Kentucky or Ohio.

So much Opie hate is directed towards the format of the completely hypothetical show he will host after his current contract runs out. I guess I'm an Opie apologist in the sense that I believe he has a modicum of self-awareness, at least enough that he would never venture to host a daily radio show/podcast without surrounding himself with a rotating/permanent cast of funny people. Maybe he knows he's a facilitator/agitator and not a great comedian?

Then why does he carry himself like "talent", and verbally compete with standups and Ant to validate himself?
2 TheMonkfish 2014-08-28
Because he's been doing it since he was 18.
Caddy to the mob, drug dealer and lover of the dark juice. The man has done it all and we'd be lucky to hear more stories about things that never happened.

Verbally compete with standups? Dude, he was just trying to talk on his radio show and hoped he could get laughs too. He didn't show up at the cellar and tell everyone to sit back and watch.

Oh no I agree with you, when the Opester has GOLDDDD A COMIN', those other fuckers? Yeah, they just need to step out of the way.

A few months ago, I would have said yes. But, the way Opie has devolved since the firing makes him very unappealing.
Unless he surrounded himself with comedians, I wouldn't touch that show with a biohazard suit.

Devolving is a good description. I hope he has the sense to realize a solo career after October is not a good idea. He's coasting on residual goodwill until October and if he doesn't do something with Ant after that that goodwill's going to dry up pretty quick.

I have no desire to listen to him with Jim Norton and stand up comedians. If it was just him flying solo for an hour or two, it would be dreadful.
I guess I'd get a month out of morbid curiosity.

Only if he tells plenty of stories about his kids.

Dear Opie: Why ask someone a question, then talk over their answer?

Can't think of anybody who would.

I would subscribe to sirius at that point.

It would be very low on my list of potential ways to spend my entertainment dollar.

No. I like Opie and think he Ant and Jimmy's chemistry together is great but he's not funny, interesting or knowledgeable enough to carry a whole show on his own. He's the straight man and good cop to Ant and Jimmy like 90% of the time which is an important role but it isn't compelling by itself. I hope the three can get back together because they're all better that way. That said Ant is the best out of the three solo but I still think he's better with the other two than by himself.
