That's why it's hilarious to me when he waxes poetic about the XM days; all he's ever done is bitch about wherever they are. I've been listening since WNEW, it's either just part of his act (I know that's a classic radio guy thing to do) or he's honestly just never happy. Guess hindsight is 20/20

Lolwut is right. What a high energy, zero content tryhard Opie is. Sure, Opie bombs a lot in 2014, but the way he's bombing in 2007 is quite different. All amped up, shouting, repeating lines, tagging lines and just acting like a fuckwit.

Yeah...He's been like that since day one. Listen to the oldest show you can find. Opie always tried to be the "extreme!" guy.

"That's what WE do!!! How does THAT feel?!??!! We hit HARD!!" after Jimmy or Ant say something harsh about someone and he has nothing to add.

Last night I realized he and chip are the same person and now think Jimmy indirectly created chip in Opie's image.

Jimmy's pretty intelligent, and I suspect it's deeper than that; and it's certainly not and INDIRECT reflection of Opie. I like the fact that the Craigg Schinkle character specifically stated that his first name is spelled with 2 "G"s as well.

i don't think jimmy is as smart as most of his fans think. he just hears things he think sounds smart and parrots them. but that's just my opinion.

i'm almost certain that's actually a large part of where "smartness" comes from, taking in ideas and adding your own opinion; even if you don't think he's that intelligent, he's fucking hilarious. i just feel so bad for Opie, cause all of his unfunniness is his fault, he tries so fucking hard. he's the one guy in the group that instead of having a modicum of humility, he just tries his hardest to impress everyone and be the frontrunner instead of calming down and just being funny. everytime he makes me laugh and gets a reaction, he'll spoil it by repeating what he said about 3 times over as everyone laughs.

hes very funny riffing, yeah. hes the only reason the show has an audience still. i just wish he would broaden his stand up topics from dick jokes and sex stories. i know hes trying to but it always seems to come back around to it.

i mean, every comedian has their crux, even Louis CK during Talking Funny said "i have a few 'fat middle aged single dad' jokes i just know will get laughs" but i do agree. i love jim, i love his characters, i love him arguing, i love him in interviews, but what i've seen of his standup sucks. it's like he takes himself more seriously on stage, and he's the first person i know to make self-deprecation almost annoying.

I meant people-smart...I think he's pretty astute at sizing people up, even if he does enjoy a tranny or two.

Just Opie Talks Over Somebody is enough to give you alcohol poisoning in any hour long stretch of the show in the past 5 years. Opie Repeats A Line might happen more than the steamrolling, for God's sake. Nobody but depressed Russians committing suicide with vodka could play this game.

I think the Opie hate is getting to your head. I listened to the first 10 minutes and it a classic show. Fez is actually talking and being funny + ESD is in studio.

I haven't listened to this whole thing so I can't comment, but as soon as I fucking clicked it it was just douchey yelling, from guess who?
