How do you think SXM feels about the O&J show? Any regret over firing Anthony?

The fact that Greenstein fired Ant via email pretty much says it all.

XM couldn't give a turkey about the show, with or without Ant.

I believe SXM has wanted the show gone for several years and just wanted an out, which they got and they took full and over the top advantage of the situation with Ant. It's pretty easy to see based on how they say they will upgrade the studio for what 3 years? With not one thing done but excuse after excuse for something that would cost maybe 50-100 thousand at most. That's pocket change for the company and if they had any respect for the show they would've shelled out for the changes they wanted from the beginning.

You're relying on Opie's word if you believe all that. I would bet everything I own that there are parts of that story we don't know about (apart from the ones we do, such as the fact that SiriusXM was fully prepared to spend every nickel they promised, so long as O&A committed to a long-term contract . . . otherwise, why spend all that money on an act that might be out the door in two years?) which would make the company's position seem a lot more reasonable than Opie's wholly unreliable account would have it.

first reasonable post i have seen from you.

The jewish cabal that runs sxm and all media is disappointed that Opie didn't flip out and break his contract over this. The plan was to break the show up before Howard retired so that O&A couldn't pick up his listeners. The jew vampire lawyers wanted to be able to sue Opie and use his money to vaporize palestinians while securing the legacy of Howie. Howie was disappointed that Opie stayed on and tried to shame him into quitting, then spent 3 hours cheerleading israel.

I'm a jew. I laughed. So fucking what. Use Opie's salary to help in the murder of innocent Palestinians? That is so ludicrous maybe it's true.

You're an idiot.

Why would they regret it? They freed up some cash, they still have a show and now they get to rebrand the O&A channel to a more safe (aka wider audience) branding like "SiriusXM Talk"

Shit, I bet the suits are still jacking each other off over the decision.

No; they'll just make up the losses from subscription cancellations by offering Opie and Jimmy less money (which they will accept).

Let's say that SXM realizes the show was better off with Anthony. What's stopping them from offering him a job come october?

I don't see him coming back. He said today on the show with Nick DiPaolo that he makes more doing TACS than he has since his 2nd WNEW contract.

gotta be bullshit

Yeah that is a very substantial counter argument.. Why wouldn't he? He doesn't have to share with other on air personalities, he gets all the sponsor and sub money himself and the expenses cant be all that for running a home studio. We all know he pays his pesants with beer and stale pretzels, perhaps some leftover teenagers now and then.

Non-thinking like this is why the people who run SiriusXM are running SiriusXM and you're not.

Corporate policy.

Non-thinking.

Everything.

If they wanted the show gone they'd of paid Opie and Jimmy out of the remaining couple months of there contacts and just said there not coming back on air. Except what happened was sxm forced Opie and Jimmy back early. They'll resign new contracts in October. Anyone that thinks otherwise is a fool.

Why not get all the shows you can, then fire him? Why leave 60 shows on the table?

Companies drop shows for no reason and pay out contracts all the time. If they didn't want them around they'd of changed formats and tossed them already. They'll be back in October so you can keep bitching about a show you hate but still listen to.

I had thought they would offer Opie & Jim a new contract until I read this in a Tom Taylor article about SXM ditching Bob Edwards:

Taylor adds that the satcaster has been in serious cost-control mode for years, cutting out things like jocks on the "50s At 5" music channel. CEO Jim Meyer told his latest quarterly call that his content costs are now below $300 million a year, down from the pre-merger $400 million or more that rivals Sirius and XM had been laying out. No immediate statement from SiriusXM, and perhaps there's some other reason for the ending of a ten-year relationship.
