I tapped out to the Opie and Jim show last week. After hearing every show since 1999, most of them live, I can't put the time and effort of listening to it anymore. It's just not worth my time. If I'm in the car, I'll listen, but no longer will I download and search out shows I missed.

I stopped a few days ago. I keep realizing that I am spending three to four hours a day listening to a show that barely amuses me anymore. I can listen to a random podcast a week for less time and some albums for background noise. I am not even a hater. The show to me is just mediocre to poor in quality.

It's the same for me. I'd rather hit up Ron + Fez and podcasts where the hosts (well, except Fez) at least give somewhat of a shit about the show content and the people listening.

I stopped this week. I had programmed myself to wake up at 3-4AM to switch the radio from Coast to Coast to O&A.

Now, I kind of wake up, come here to find out who is on in the Listening thread. Then I go back to sleep.

It sucks but I'm getting more sleep.

Kind of like breaking up with someone. It's been awhile now. The first couple weeks were the obsession, then it just faded away.

I used to listen to the show while I was at work a lot. These days I actually rather just sit in silence and do my job than listen to most of the garbage they are broadcasting. I do still come onto here to see what people are saying in case there is a guest I'm interested in or perhaps there is a fluke good show worth checking out.

It will be a year in October. I simply stopped enjoying the show. The things that made it a fun show to listen to had become too few and far between. Oddly enough though, despite how much he sucks, it's not opie that made me stop. Opie's awfulness has remained a constant throughout the show's history. The chemistry and comedic genius of Ant and Jim always made up for it. However, over the last few years the comedy the two produced was being replaced by endless shitty, usually uninformed rants about race, politics, political correctness, etc. This started taking up more and more airtime and I got to the point I just couldn't listen anymore. At the end, I spent more time annoyed/pissed off at what I was hearing than actually laughing or enjoying myself.

Now that you mention it, yes, I do think Sam Roberts is a faggot.

Dude, the show has been going on for so many years and people have become attached to it, do you honestly expect people to quickly abandon one of the biggest forums about the show to let you have a suck and cuck-fest about the greatness of the current state of the show?

Make an Opie and Jimmy subreddit if you want to fellate the current show but face the fact that a lot of us here think the current show is gasping for air.

When they have shit guests and don't fuck with them. Old O&A would never put up with that.

They're basically 'the morning chuckles crew' with every guest. Ant was pretty bad before he left too... "HA HA HA (repeat) HA HA HA". Pretty much every laugh is fake.

It's my favorite show, too...but for nostalgic reasons. I cannot help but listen now and think about the glory days.

It's almost like watching a dying TV show. You have so much time invested that it doesn't make sense to just turn it off. You want to see how it ends.

I still listen every day but lately I haven't been finishing the shows. Usually I would listen to the entire show and only skip parts of it like if they had a guest that I really didn't care about. Now, if I haven't finished O&J before Ant's show begins it's a good chance I won't be finishing that day's show.

Everyone here hated the show before Ant was fired. Now they've just changed their reason for hating it.

Any time Sam starts acting like he owns the place I get bitchy. Other than that, I'm glad to have something to listen to in the mornings. I've been a fan long enough that I know the cast and crew, as well as a few friends of the show pretty well. Does this mean I agree with them or like everything they do? No. However, that's life. I prefer a show where people talk about real shit and have different opinions or views to my own sometimes than one you'd hear on terrestrial radio.

Tapping out is when you've been placed in a position of compromise and are forced the consequence of a man rescuing you or severe bodily harm.

Right now I feel like knees on the ground are legal and I'm on all fours being hammered while scurrying about trying to reduce the damage for this position I've placed myself in but I'm still not ready to tapout. I'm in it to the end, which is October. If they resign, well... I'm tapping out.

I don't hate the show. I still try to listen everyday but when that shitty phone app fucks up even once it's not worth the effort it once was to search out where I left off.

Also, I used to let the worst of play in the background in my garage all weekend. Now I'd rather listen to music. Not being some douche hater but that is what I naturally find myself doing.

I haven't listened in weeks. This dub is more entertaining.

Well I usually just see people complain about Opie sucking but most people still seem to enjoy Jim.

Who cares if they change the nature of the show? If it stinks people will say it stinks. If it is good people will say it is good or say nothing. I wouldn't care if they made the show 3 hours of playing relaxation sounds as long as they could do it in an entertaining way. The problem is they haven't been doing their serious talk show in a very entertaining way. I've listened to maybe an hour combined out of the last 2 weeks worth of shows. My biggest gripe with their show now (other than Opie being just awful) is that they don't seem to have the ability to provide content for 3 hours, 4 days a week. Their show would prob be good If it was an hour a day.

I still listen every day and will continue to for the foreseeable future. IMO the show has changed but it hasn't lessened in quality since Ant left. They're getting more comedians on the show like we wanted before Ant got fired, so the show is about the same in quality.

weeeell...Ive listened to probably 90% of the OA shows since 2003(first day of XM). Ants show is great and will be a major success...now that we go that out the way... I want to love OJ show but its just not the same and seems they are on autopilot. I can understand why though. As much as the split up crushed the fans Im sure it did the same for O&J. Like someone else mentioned the show got me through work daily and many days i would even listen twice. Im not even bothered if I miss a day. That being said I will still listen to the show until the end. I must say though my sub is paid by my employer and if it wasnt i doubt i would be subbing.

Why do people think Wackbag is negative? It's clearly a heavily moderated place for superfans who have been listening for years and will never stop listening.

I gotta assume that Wackbag was way different in the past and it's changed and people haven't been there lately. That's the only thing I can come up with. Unless these people saying it just can't tolerate even a shred of dissension. Sometimes there are negative comments there, but they are always swooped down on by the mega post count veterans.
