limiting the number of downloads does nothing to protect the podcast and is just an inconvenience for anyone who actually pays to listen.

EA did that with their install limits, that totally stopped me from going to the pirate bay and getting a copy of Spore

I have just reported you to the cyber police. Enjoy having your reddit account back traced.

Good job, you just got him shot by the cyber police. Now we need to protest his death starts looting subreddit

LOOK AT ALL THESE JIM NORTON CHARACTER NOVELTY ACCOUNTS I HAVE NOW!

You dun goofed now /u/Pale_Pen15, the consequences will never be the same.

That was such a poor game, I'm still sour about it.

True, it's like limiting the number of rounds a firearm's magazine can hold.

But if it's limited to 5 downloads then only 3 other people could get it, Given you keep a spare copy for yourself.

Or you download it once, and put it somewhere else.

I don't know, From what Keith said I think if you try to do anything other than play the file it sends him your address and he will come rough you up.

Heh, there might be DRM attached, which is circumventable. There is nothing Ant can do that hasn't been tried and failed a million times by movie studios and game companies.

I personally dont mind paying Ant though or non-mega-corporations in general. Never given Sirius a dime though.

I'm almost tempted to get a facebook account just to let him know how badly he is fucking this up with this retarded download "protection".

I said almost.

Maybe I'll just wait for his scheme to go into operation, then post mp3s of the show recorded from the livestream and have them available five minutes after the show finishes to a blogspot - maybe then the penny will start to fucking drop ... Hey, not even any SiriusXM commercial breaks to edit out, piece of piss, I'll have it done in two minutes.

Sony and Warner Brothers can't stop pirates, but Keith The Cop thinks he will with self-destructing RSS feeds.

Make it easy for the paying customers shitdick, none of these pointless contortions, or else they find easier solutions, much easier, and once they do, why exactly are they re-subbing. Fuck me.

For some reason, I don't think Anthony will have an issue threatening or suing somebody putting up his files.

I'm not putting up any files ... I was proving a point.

Anyone that is watching the show, that presses record, has a full copy of the mp3 available and ready to upload the second the show finishes.

They don't even need to wait for a complicated scheme of expiring download links.

So how exactly does this "anti-piracy" ballache make any fucking sense. It doesn't, that's the point.

Now we've got paying customers jumping thru hoops, meanwhile the files already sit on torrent sites, one click.

There's a large pool of goodwill towards Anthony and his venture, you want to see how quickly that evaporates as they keep fucking around with paying subscribers giving them second class service, meanwhile the pirates make things nice and easy. If you are competing against "free", you better go out your way to make it easy, not the direct opposite.

They should record the show from the board, and hoist the mp3 file direct to the server right there and then. None of this fucking pointless, won't work, won't deter anyone that wants to steal it, fucking nonsense.

You ever think that since KTC and Anthony aren't part of a giant corporation, nor are they experts at this kind of shit, that maybe a little patience is warranted while they figure everything out?

You sound like a major cunt.

I just fucking said that some very giant corporations spent the last decade fighting leakage, making things complicated for customers, treating them like would-be criminals, DRMing and regionlocking the shit out of them .... and all they accomplished was making bit torrent the global success it was.

Exactly - they don't have the fucking resources, so they need to concentrate on keeping the paying customers they have satisfied, not the direct fucking opposite. Make it easier than stealing, then when it comes time to re-up, it's no problem.

Make it complicated, and people look for easier solutions, when they finally discover them, why are they going to go back and pay for the difficult.

Any of this getting thru that thick fucking mongoloid skull of yours?

Buddy, you're completely fucking retarded if you think that they aren't already aware of the fact that they are completely helpless when it comes to people torrenting the show.

They are setting up a protected RSS feed so everything is completely automated and managed inside of apps like Stitcher and Downcast.

All they are doing is making sure that the pirates aren't consuming their bandwidth, by preventing them form downloading the show directly from their servers

Get It? They understand that a % of people are going to steal the show, what they don't want to do is pay for the file hosting.

So basically, all you're bitching about is that the pirates are going to have to download the show manually and won't have everything nice and automated inside of stitcher like paying customers do.

Just put the fucking MP3 link up on the secure side of the site, that's all customers asked for.

Just have the fucking MP3 available as soon as the show finishes, not waiting for Keith to download and then re-upload, that all customers asked for.

None of that needed to wait, or still needs to wait for some fucking support headache of a shoddy app that's still to arrive.

You are living in a fucking Geocities world you dumb idiot cunt, their hosts are serving up 2GB 720p FLV streams, every fucker that's barely heard of O&A could grab the mp3 and not make a dent in one person streaming the show live.

They do think this scheme is anti-piracy, and they are wrong to believe that, anti-piracy is serve up the content easier, better and faster than the pirates. If they are lucky, they'll figure it out eventually.

Its only anti-piracy in the sense that things won't be nice and automated for the pirates, they'll still have to grab the files manually off of a pirate site.

Contrary to what you personally believe, a huge number of people want the show to be automated and managed inside of their preferred podcast app, just like the dozens of other podcasts that they currently listen to.

You need realize that's just as important, if not more important than having a direct download link available after the show. People on the go don't necessarily want to have to log in to a website, download a show manually, and transfer the file to their phone OR have to go through the entire ordeal of doing that while ON their phone.

They want to be able to open stitcher and hit refresh, but of course you don't, so why would you even bother to try and understand the need for an RSS feed in the first place.

PS. If you think the streaming service and the file hosting services are provided by the same vendor, you're fucking stupid.

Repeating the same turgid fucking point you've been failing to make from the outset. Don't worry, you're getting away with it, not everyone has noticed you're a not getting the big picture cunt.

Meanwhile paying customers in a free-podcast world keep telling Keith they've only managed to catch a few minutes worth of shows ... while he fucks around with RSS and shitty apps. All they've been asking him for was a quick fucking link. Yeah, they'll hang around and re-sub.

Keep flailing stupid, keep up the fucking floor show ya RSS jizzmopping non-entity.

PS. (ha, the cunt thinks he's writing a fucking letter), yes everyone knows who Ant pays for livestreaming (that's a clue), and everyone also knows the price of CDN and cloud storage, and everyone also knows how mp3 represents a fucking rounding error on dataplans these days. More pathological 1990s thinking from the shitheel with the big mouth.

You want to go through the hassle of having to login and manually download the show every single day with a shitty fucking mobile browser, and have to bother with manual library management, and you're accusing ME of pathological 1990s thinking?

You're BEYOND fucking retarded.

Most people want to be able to connect to wifi, open up stitcher, tap a SINGLE FUCKING BUTTON and have it downloaded, added to the correct library and playing.

Acting like they're being fucking oppressive because they don't want to provide that type of convenience to complete freeloaders is stupid as fuck, but okay, keep whinging.

When you get called a "not getting the big picture cunt, exactly what part of that simple phrase confuses you?

Hey, but fuck all that, this guy's using CAPS LOCK now, so you know what that means, we're all in big fucking trouble. No it does not mean he's a fucking child stomping his feet in a tantrum, it means he's serious business. Get it right.

You and Keith can get together, both look at month on month re-subs dropping, all confused, but we fucked around for months, gave them an unnecessarily pain in the ass RSS feed, and a promise of a buggy app sometime down the road, I don't understand it. A real stone cold fucking mystery.

Getting the thing working like a normal fucking podcast for convenience of end users is pretty clearly their #1 priority.

Uniquely generated direct download links so people won't post them on public forums hardly makes them nazis, the files themselves don't have DRM on them, you're basically jut being a C-U-N-T.

I mean, like it wasn't clear that you were being a C-U-N-T from the outset, with your complete lack of patience for something that is pretty clearly still a WIP, and hasn't even been broadcasting for two weeks.

Keep replying to yourself, that doesn't make you look like a mental patient.

Do they not have reply buttons back in the 1990s? Must be so confusing, dumb cunt.

He already called them faggots. That more or less put a complete stop to folks posting things to youtube

The RSS feed is so downloading is automated inside of peoples podcast apps, they are trying to make it easy for subscribers. The self-destructing link is so they don't bare the bandwidth costs of the people who pirate. You think they don't know that anyone with a laptop can rip the audio and throw it up on a torrent site?

There are so many complete retards on this subreddit, holy shit.

I'm with you. This is the perfect way to do it. I don't want to have to go the website every day, download an mp3, and remember to delete it when i'm done.

How is Keith fucking this up when all he did was write the FB post? He said himself that the developer is doing the rest.

"I just try to decipher what the developer tells me and put it into as basic of a description as I can for everyone including me to understand."

The Cumia show is already on Pirate Bay and YouTube. The battle is already lost.

Who is leaking it to YouTube?

Opie

finally going viral

You mean 50000? Num nuts

He seriously needs to see how Joe Rogan does this whole podcast thing. Joe's audience is pretty damn big.

Or Carolla, who is almost identical to Anthony at this point.

DRM only hurts paying customers.

4) The link will be active for a specific period of time. (if posted the link will expire)

Wha??

Do they mean posted to a pirate site? How will they even know if it gets posted somewhere?

Were putting these measures in place to protect you the subscriber.

I won't even ask how they figure that.

KtC shouldn't be explaining things he doesn't understand. It's probably an automated system that detects if several IPs are downloading from the same link, and then blocks it.

What he means is they are trying to make it harder for people to steal the content so that people who actually pay aren't paying for all of those that steal.

Do the people pay more if the shows get stolen?

No, but, the point is... it's not fair to the ones that pay that others steal and get for free. Kinda like paying your taxes and seeing where that money goes...

Well the thing with taxes is that we do pay more because of tax cheats, just like we pay more for insurance because of people who misuse emergency rooms to avoid paying for health insurance. So really, all of this convoluted anti-piracy nonsense is just Ant's version of ObamaCare.

I don't see how subscribers are being protected from anything unless they are being protected from having their subscription fee increased.

This is fucking terrible.

Not according to the replies to that facebook post!

I don't understand why Keith is trying to do everything 100% by himself. Why not pay someone to set this stuff up for him, then all he has to do is maintain it? If they are really pulling in $60,000/month on this thing, they should be able to contract out for some of these tricky pieces like setting up the downloads and even creating an app.

keith is coordinating things, and considering how fast the show went up he did a good job.. They contract out the web stuff, it just takes time get a site up and running.

It just seems like Ant would rather be working with his buddies.

Yeah but they could pay people just to do certain pieces that Keith doesn't know how to do.

what makes you think he set this up personally?

Keith's job is to deal with all of the vendors and coordinate with the tech people.

So many fucking mouth breathers on here.

Umm, because he said he was doing it. On Facebook. In the comments.

Anyway it looks like they did now hire a guy (Rat) to focus on the tech stuff which should hopefully improve things.

I give it a week before pirates find a backdoor way of getting the show download files. I remember a radio guy by the name of "Bubba the Love Sponge" adopted a new online service after not resigning with Sirius. The only problem was that he and his manager had their hands in this new venture and got in way over their heads. Shortly after launching people found an unencrypted backdoor link to the live shows and it was never fixed.

Not to mention that it takes 0 effort now to record a live broadcasted stream...

All of the shows are already up on the pirate sites as it is.

"After not resigning with Sirius" That made me chuckle. I actually enjoyed BTLS on Fridays on 101, thought he was pretty funny. His show is free in Radioio app but the app itself is somehow worse than the Sirius app which is quite the accomplishment.

Wow, real bunch of winners in those comments.

More faffy shite. Can't be arsed

I love Ant-but let me get this straight:

Rogan has a huge built in audience (by himself) Adam Carolla has a huge built in audience (by himself)

...but Anthony Cumia (without Jim Norton-and to a lesser degree the Opster <yuck>),is the one charging subscription fees for his?

[deleted]

Hey Keith, this is why you have haters: you're clearly trying way too hard to make yourself a part of this show. You didn't need to sign that Facebook post with "KtC." Nobody cares who writes the post, just speak for the show anonymously.

If he doesn't sign with KtC people will assume it's Ant.

Yeah but they could pay people just to do certain pieces that Keith doesn't know how to do.

No, but, the point is... it's not fair to the ones that pay that others steal and get for free. Kinda like paying your taxes and seeing where that money goes...
