I don't think Bill Burr likes Anthony...at all... Here's why.

I'm a big fan of Bill and listen to his podcast and pretty much everything else he does. Others who do too would agree with me when I say I don't think Bill like Anthony. He probably thinks he's funny but he hates a lot of his views.

All throughout his podcast after Ant's firing, Bill refused to bring it up despite being a regular on O&A for so long and the only time he mentioned it was when Jim was on and even then he said "you can see him on Opie with Jim Norton" without tripping or even acknowledging it was said any other way.

And again just the other week in Montreal, a fan asked Bill what he thought about Anthony since he's been getting a lot of heat from fans and Bill perfectly deflected by explaining how he wasn't getting that much shit. Hell, I don't even think Bill has said Anthony's name since July 4th.

But that's just my thoughts. Again, I'm a huge fan of both Bill and Anthony, this was just something that I noticed about him ever since Ant's firing.

Ant tweeted that him and Burr talked on the phone a few times recently. Just because hes not ball washing Ant doesnt mean he doesnt like him. He recently got into it with Bonnie, if Bill doesnt like you you will know

Bill was outraged over the Stephen A Smith firing on his podcast 2 weeks ago. He spent 10 minutes defending him. Bill has never brought up Ant once

As a podcast listener, I've heard Bill state multiple times how much he likes both Opie and Anthony and how much fun he has doing their show. Even on the show he never hid the fact that he completely disagreed with a lot of Anthony's views on race. He probably (reasonably) doesn't support a lot of what Anthony said, but I'm sure he still supports Anthony himself. He doesn't have to make a public statement to support Anthony. He probably wants to stay out of it publicly and that's fine.

I think it's kind of crazy to think that Burr doesn't like Anthony considering how many times he's been on the show and the obvious chemistry he has with everyone on it.

Bill is of Irish descent. His wife is of African descent. I LOVE Anthony and his value as an entertainer, but he has never backed down from voicing his opinion of interracial relationships as the butt of a joke he liked to tell. A LOT. In front of Bill, on more than one occasion. ...did ANT ever imagine he would have one of his highest billed, talented comedian friends to be the epitome of said "joke?" I DONT KNOW, I'M A FUCKING FIGMENT OF HIS IMAGINATION!!!

I remember listening to an O&A from about two years ago and Burr definitely got offended on behalf of black people because of something Anthony said. It surprised me because Burr's doesn't exactly hold anything back on stage.

I think you're referring to this.

I have to agree with Bill on this one, though. A lot of what Anthony says can be true about the double standards and hypocrisy of racism towards blacks and whites and other times it's paranoid or racist rants, this was the latter.

I felt like back with Patrice, Anthony was a lot more open-minded about race (or at least he was given an intelligent, black perspective via Patrice) and if he made a point about it, it was usually in a comedic fashion. Nowadays, he's angry, upset, or spiteful. I think Patrice was one of, if not the last black friend Anthony had

Bill Burr announced on his podcast that he will release an older set(from 2011 I believe) exclusively on vinyl. I wish I was kidding.

Isn't bill married to a colored? Tss

Seriously though... Even if bill hates him it would have been nice just to mention it.

YEAH? WELL I HAD SEX WITH YOUR WIFE!

His wife is black.

car crash

...what?

....uhh, he's doing the jerkstore bit

.....BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

His wife looks like the perp..

Jen?

My opinion of Bill Burr soured badly after the Anthony firing.

f I recall correctly, In Montreal, Bill actually told someone (regarding why he hasn't spoken about the firing): "I don't owe anyone an explanation. Twitter haters can go fuck themselves."

He came off as such an entitled dick when he said that, that I immediately unsubscribed from his podcast.

O&A and their fans helped him build his career early on. He may not owe we "pleb" fans an answer, but the least he could do is publicly support Anthony - like countless (and much more popular) friends of the show did.

Yeah, because the 11 years of hardwork before he even was on O&A mean nothing. Bill doesn't owe anyone anything

Of course the 11 years mean something.

In fact, they meant his roles in the instant classics Perfect Fit in 2001; Passionada in 2002; and his one skit on Chappelle Show 2003.

Let us also not forget his critically acclaimed Discography in that same time frame:

Emotionally Unavailable in 2003 Emotionally Unavailable Extended Edition 2007

In any field, you owe someone something to get your start. Let's face it, Burr was not exactly lighting it up in the early 2000s - which is when he first started doing O&A.

No one ever bitches about the loyal guy. They bitch about the disloyal guy - and disloyal is exactly how Burr is coming off right now.

If you really think Burr's O&A appearances were a catalyst for his rise in popularity you need to look around. More people know Bill Burr than O&A at this point and that gap is going to become waaay bigger.

You know catalyst means causing something, right? No one disputes his popularity now - we're discussing the cause of his popularity.

Burr was not famous or sought after in the early 2000s. That is why I highlighted his films/discs. O&A gave him a platform to gain an audience when he was literally a nobody. They are one of the direct causes of his fame.

Now that he's a somebody - he seemingly forgot who gave him his start. I don't care how much he disagrees with Anthony, He owes the show and it's hosts a huge debt of gratitude.

Disloyalty gets you nowhere in any sector. If he keeps this up, his movie roles will dry up in no time.

Stop being a snarky internet loser. I know what catalyst means. I paid attention in eighth grade, which is why I used it properly.

Burr wasn't a "nobody" when he started coming on O&A. He also has an immense amount of talent. There aren't comedians as strong as Burr without a following. He would be doing just fine without them.

Honestly, I don't give a fuck about any of this. I only replied because you're irritating.

Bill Burr was a huge nobody before O&A - take a look a his collective works that I listed in the comments above.

I'm not saying O&A are the only reason he finally broke through, but they are one of the important reasons for his success.

And, if I am a snarky, internet loser - I might as well go full tilt:

Here's what catalyst means:

catalyst noun - a person or thing that precipitates an event.

Here's how you used it:

If you really think Burr's O&A appearances were a catalyst for his rise in popularity you need to look around. More people know Bill Burr than O&A at this point

You're talking about Burr's current state of being which would be the result post-catalyst. Therefore, based on what you wrote, O&A could have been a (or the) catalyst to his current fame.

So, if your point was O&A could not possibly be a catalyst to his fame (and that absolutely was your point) - then you definitely used catalyst improperly.

Maybe you should revisit your 8th grade notes?

We're arguing O&A's impact on his level of fame, the definition of the word isn't in question.

Just stop.

"entitled" seems to be a word people throw around as though it's some kind of criticism. people get things they're not "entitled" to all the time. it's like its lost all meaning.

Bill Burr is right. He doesn't answer to you or any other dumbass on twitter. Fuck off.
