So what's the deal with Barry Katz? He's this infamous guy everybody hates. Every entertainer has a Barry Katz story about some evil or seedy shit he did. But then he's on a ton of podcasts, and they LOVE this guy. Personally, I think he's got some interesting stories about the industry.
I've dealt with Barry on a very limited level, but he's always been really cool to me. He even got me Kirk Fox for free for a Funny Or Die thing, always been nothing but honest/supportive. He's tried to get me other people too/work with us, for little or no money to his goddamn clients. He's never not-not responded to me on anything, and I'm just some weenie with no money. He's a super agent.
As far as "entertainer Barry," he is a horrendous, horrendous interview/er and a droning goddamn bore of a human being. He's an interrupter, a flow-ruiner, you name it. Only time I love him is when he's on Jay Mohr's podcast, because Jay can wrangle him. And his "Barry" is my favorite impression. (No biting, mayn.) Imgur
In the surreal "Jay interviews Barry as Barry" podcast from a few weeks ago - Barry and Jay basically translated why Barry loses almost all of his big name clients....it is the nature of the industry. He helps them out when they start out, then eventually they get successful enough that they get opportunities thrown at them and there is no reason to need to keep giving Barry his 10% cut.
So most people leave him, but don't hate him, but Jay has never left him.
The 100th episode is Jay Mohr interviewing Barry Katz while doing the Barry Katz voice…it sounds like it should be horrible, but it is brilliant. Jay kills in it, and it actually gets pretty deep. Highly recommended.
I always hated it when ant went into a weird baby voice and called jimmy yimmy and then started giggled like a school girl. " little yimmy hihihihi" gross. Maybe it would be funny if jimmy came in as uncle paul and said "stay away from yimmy hes mine" or something but that never happened.

it really was a great episode. it's really compelling because there are things about him that no one ever talks about.
